Pellon Tyres Test
Running an independent garage isn’t simply about fitting tyres, servicing cars or carrying out MOT tests.
For me, one of the most important parts of running Pellon Tyre and Autocentre here in Halifax has always been gaining the trust of our customers.
You can’t buy that trust.
You have to earn it.
Over the years we’ve been fortunate enough to receive some wonderful comments and testimonials from customers throughout Halifax, Calderdale and the surrounding areas.
Some are customers who have only visited us once.
Others have been coming to Pellon for many years.
We’ve even reached the stage where we’re looking after cars belonging to the sons and daughters of customers we first dealt with years ago!
That’s probably one of the nicest compliments an independent garage can receive.
Customer Testimonials Mean a Lot to a Small Business
The
An independent garage like ours has traditionally relied much more heavily on something considerably simpler:
Word of mouth.
One satisfied customer tells a friend.
A family member recommends us to another family member.
Someone at work asks where they can get an MOT or a decent set of tyres fitted, and one of our existing customers recommends Pellon.
That’s how local businesses have grown for generations.
The internet has changed the way this happens, but the principle hasn’t really changed at all.
Instead of simply telling the bloke next door that you’ve received good service, today you might leave a review or testimonial online.
For us, those genuine
Honesty Has Always Been Important at Pellon
One thing I’ve always tried to maintain at Pellon is a very simple principle:
We never do a job unless it needs doing.
If we inspect a customer’s brakes and they’re perfectly serviceable, we’ll tell them.
If a tyre still has plenty of safe tread remaining, we’re not going to tell somebody they need a new tyre simply to make another sale.
Equally, if we find something that’s genuinely unsafe, we’ll explain the problem and show the customer wherever possible.
That approach has helped us build the reputation we enjoy today.
In one of my other articles about MOT testing in Halifax, I wrote about the importance we’ve always placed on honesty and looking after the customer’s interests. That philosophy applies throughout the garage, not just in the MOT bay.
Real Customers and Real Garage Work
Another thing that’s important to me is that the work you see on this website is real.
Many of the articles I write come directly from vehicles that have arrived at our Halifax garage.
A

A van arrives with a badly damaged tyre.
A car fails its MOT.
IN
Recently, for example, we had a Ford Transit arrive with one of the worst damaged tyres we’d seen for a very long time. That’s the sort of genuine everyday garage experience that gives motorists useful information rather than simply filling a website with sales talk.
The same principle applies to testimonials.
Genuine experiences matter.
Some Customers Stay With Us for Years
The motor trade has changed enormously since I first became involved with tyres and cars.
Vehicles have changed.
Tyres have changed.
Diagnostic equipment has changed beyond recognition.
And of course the internet has transformed the way people find garages.
But a good relationship between a garage and its customers hasn’t changed very much at all.
People want to know that the person looking after their car is going to treat them fairly.
That’s especially important with cars because most motorists understandably aren’t mechanics themselves.
If somebody tells you that your vehicle needs hundreds of pounds spending on it, you need to be able to trust that advice.
We’ve been fortunate at Pellon to build relationships with customers who return year after year.
Some bring their cars for tyres.
Others come for MOT testing, servicing, brakes, exhausts, batteries or general repairs.
Many use us for virtually everything their vehicle requires.
Halifax People Appreciate Straight Talking
Perhaps there’s a bit of Yorkshire in our approach as well!
People around Halifax and Calderdale generally appreciate being told things as they are.
No fancy sales pitch.
No frightening somebody into buying something they don’t need.
Just inspect the vehicle, explain what’s wrong and let the customer make an informed decision.
That’s the way I’ve always preferred to conduct business.
We’ve written elsewhere on the site about how important this straight-talking approach remains for independent garages. Many Pellon customers have stayed with us for years, and some families have used the garage through different generations.
Reviews Help Other Halifax Motorists Too
Customer reviews and testimonials don’t just help us.
They can help somebody who’s never visited Pellon before decide whether we’re the sort of garage they want to trust with their car.
Imagine you’ve recently moved into Halifax.
Your car develops a problem and you don’t know any local garages.
Naturally, one of the first things many people now do is look online.
They want to see whether other customers have been happy.
Were they treated fairly?
Was the problem explained?
Would those customers use the garage again?
Genuine customer experiences can answer questions that an advertisement simply can’t.
We Don’t Buy Reviews
This is worth mentioning because the internet has unfortunately created another industry — fake reviews.
Businesses are regularly approached by companies offering to supply positive reviews.
That’s something we’re simply not interested in.
I’d much rather have a genuine review from somebody who’s actually stood at our reception desk and had their car worked on by our lads than hundreds of manufactured five-star comments from people who’ve never even been to Halifax.
A genuine customer saying “they looked after me” means something.
That’s the sort of reputation an independent business should be building.
Thank You to Our Customers
Pellon Tyre and Autocentre wouldn’t have survived and grown over the years without the support of the people of Halifax and the surrounding Calderdale area.
I’ve written previously about how grateful I am for that support and how important the loyalty of local customers has been throughout Pellon’s development.
Every recommendation matters.
Every returning customer matters.
And every genuine testimonial or review is appreciated.
Of course, we’re not perfect.
No business employing people and dealing with thousands of vehicles can claim that everything will go perfectly every single time.
What matters is trying to do the job properly, treating customers fairly and putting things right when something does go wrong.
That’s what we’ve always tried to do here at Pellon.
Pellon Tyre and Autocentre – Proud to Serve Halifax
From tyres and wheel alignment to brakes, batteries, servicing and MOT testing, our business has grown considerably over the years.
But underneath all that equipment and technology, Pellon remains what it has always been:
a local independent Halifax garage looking after local motorists.
So to everyone who’s taken the time over the years to leave Pellon a genuine testimonial, recommendation, or review:
Thank you.
Your comments help other motorists find us, but more importantly, they remind everyone here at Pellon that doing the job properly and treating customers fairly still counts for something.
And after all these years in the motor trade, I don’t think that will ever change
customer service, trust, long-standing customers, or the history of the business
