Hyundai Santa Fe Gets New Tyres and TPMS Repair at Pellon Tyres Halifax
It did not take long before the next customer arrived at Pellon Tyres and Autocentre on what turned out to be another busy day in our Halifax depot.
This time, the vehicle was a Hyundai Santa Fe that had called in for one of our free tyre safety inspections. As regular readers will know, we are always happy to check tyres free of charge because many tyre problems can be spotted before they become serious safety issues.
The inspection was carried out by Adam, one of our experienced tyre technicians. After checking the tread depths and examining the condition of all four tyres, Adam reported that the Santa Fe required two replacement tyres.
After discussing the available options, the customer decided to fit a pair of budget tyres in the form of 235/55R19 Endura Runway Sport tyres.
Whilst carrying out the work, the customer also mentioned that the tyre pressure warning light had been illuminated on the dashboard. A further inspection revealed a faulty TPMS valve, which was replaced at the same time.
With the new tyres fitted, the TPMS system repaired and everything checked over, the customer left happy knowing her vehicle was safe and roadworthy once again.

The Rise of the Hyundai Santa Fe: Hyundai Santa Fe gets new tyres
The Hyundai Santa Fe has become one of the most popular large SUVs on British roads.
When Hyundai first introduced the Santa Fe in 2001, the company was still building its reputation in Europe. At the time, many motorists viewed Korean cars as budget alternatives to established European brands.
However, Hyundai had much bigger ambitions.
The company wanted to build vehicles that offered excellent reliability, generous equipment levels and outstanding value for money.
The Santa Fe was one of the models that helped achieve that goal.
Named after the city of Santa Fe in New Mexico, the vehicle was designed to appeal to families who wanted the practicality of a four-wheel-drive vehicle without the high running costs often associated with traditional off-roaders.
The formula proved extremely successful.

Designed for British Roads
One reason for the Santa Fe’s popularity is that Hyundai spent considerable time ensuring the vehicle suited European and British driving conditions.
Although the SUV was developed as a global vehicle, suspension settings, steering characteristics and equipment levels were all refined to meet the expectations of European motorists.
British drivers wanted:
- Comfortable motorway cruising.
- Good fuel economy.
- Reliable performance.
- Plenty of passenger space.
- Safe towing ability.
The Santa Fe delivers all of these features.
Today, they are a common sight throughout Halifax, Calderdale, Brighouse, Elland and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside.
Many owners use them for:
- Family holidays.
- Caravan towing.
- Horse trailers.
- Outdoor activities.
- Long-distance motorway driving.
Why SUVs Are Popular in Yorkshire: Hyundai Santa Fe gets new tyres
Here in West Yorkshire, SUVs have become increasingly popular over the past twenty years.
Drivers appreciate the higher seating position, which provides excellent visibility, particularly when travelling through busy towns such as Halifax and Bradford.
The Santa Fe also offers plenty of luggage space, making it ideal for family trips to the Yorkshire coast, the Lake District or further afield.
The combination of comfort and practicality has made it one of Hyundai’s most successful models.
The Importance of Regular Tyre Checks
The tyre inspection on this Santa Fe highlights why regular tyre checks are so important.
Many motorists rarely look at their tyres until an MOT test or service reveals a problem.
Unfortunately, tyres wear gradually, and it can be difficult for drivers to notice the change.
By having the tyres checked regularly, customers can:
- Improve safety.
- Avoid MOT failures.
- Reduce fuel consumption.
- Improve handling.
- Prevent uneven tyre wear.
At Pellon Tyres, we always encourage motorists to take advantage of our free tyre checks.
A five-minute inspection can often identify issues before they become expensive problems.
Endura Runway Sport Tyres: Hyundai Santa Fe gets new tyres
The customer on this occasion selected Endura Runway Sport tyres.
Runway tyres have been available in the UK market for many years and have built a reputation for offering good value for money.
Many customers are looking for a sensible balance between performance and affordability.
Not everyone wants to purchase premium brands, particularly when budgets are tight.
The Endura Runway Sport tyre is designed to provide:
- Reliable everyday performance.
- Good wet weather grip.
- Comfortable driving.
- Low running costs.
- Competitive mileage.
For many family SUV owners, these qualities are exactly what they require.
Over the years we have fitted many budget and mid-range tyre brands at Pellon Tyres, and modern budget tyres have improved dramatically compared with those available twenty or thirty years ago.
Today’s manufacturing techniques allow budget brands to offer performance levels that would have been considered excellent only a generation ago.
Understanding TPMS Systems
The second issue affecting this Santa Fe was the illuminated TPMS warning light.
TPMS stands for Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
These systems have become mandatory on modern vehicles and are designed to alert drivers if tyre pressures fall below safe levels.
The system works using sensors mounted inside the wheels.
When a tyre loses pressure, the sensor communicates with the vehicle’s computer and illuminates a warning light on the dashboard.
In this case, the problem was traced to a faulty TPMS valve.
Faulty sensors and valves are becoming increasingly common as vehicles age.
The sensors contain batteries which eventually reach the end of their working life.
Fortunately, replacement valves and sensors are now readily available and can usually be fitted during routine tyre replacement work.
Why Correct Tyre Pressures Matter: Hyundai Santa Fe gets new tyres
Many drivers underestimate the importance of maintaining correct tyre pressures.
Incorrect pressures can lead to:
- Increased tyre wear.
- Poor fuel economy.
- Reduced braking performance.
- Poor handling.
- Increased risk of tyre failure.
This is particularly important on larger vehicles such as the Hyundai Santa Fe, which place greater loads on their tyres.
By ensuring the TPMS system is working correctly, the customer can now receive an early warning if a tyre loses pressure in the future.
Another Happy Customer at Pellon Tyres
Once the new Endura Runway Sport tyres had been fitted and the TPMS valve replaced, the Hyundai Santa Fe was ready to return to the roads of Calderdale.
The customer left knowing that her tyres were safe, the warning light issue had been resolved and her vehicle was ready for many more miles of reliable motoring.
Stories like this are repeated every day at Pellon Tyres and Autocentre.
Whether it is a simple tyre check, a TPMS repair or a complete set of tyres, our aim remains the same as it has been for decades: offering honest advice, quality workmanship and friendly service to motorists throughout Halifax and the surrounding Yorkshire area.
