Kia Optima in for New RoadX Tyres at Pellon Tyres Halifax

We had a Kia Optima in at Pellon Tyres here in Halifax recently, booked in for a new set of tyres after the customer started to notice a drop in performance.

Like many drivers, they mentioned that the car just didn’t feel as confident on the road as it used to—especially with the recent spell of wet weather we’ve been having across Yorkshire. That’s usually one of the first signs that tyres are nearing the end of their life.

Worn Tyres and Reduced Safety: Kia Optima for new RoadX Tyres

When we carried out our usual checks, it quickly became clear what the issue was. The existing tyres were quite worn, with tread depth getting close to the legal limit in places. On top of that, there was some uneven wear across the front tyres, which can affect both handling and braking.

Tyres are something that wear gradually, so it’s easy not to notice the decline. But once the tread gets low, especially below 3mm, performance in wet conditions starts to drop off quite sharply. Water isn’t cleared as effectively, which increases the risk of aquaplaning and longer stopping distances.

In a place like Halifax, where we see plenty of rain and the odd steep hill, having good tyres really does make a difference to everyday driving safety.

Choosing RoadX Tyres – A Sensible Budget Option

After discussing the options, the customer decided to go for a set of RoadX tyres.

We’ve been fitting more of these lately, and they’ve proven to be a solid choice for drivers who want something reliable without the higher cost of premium brands.

RoadX tyres offer:

  • Good grip in both wet and dry conditions
  • Comfortable and quiet driving
  • Strong value for money

They’re ideal for everyday use, commuting, and general driving around town or on the motorway.

Professional Tyre Fitting at Pellon Tyres: Kia Optima for new RoadX Tyres

Once the tyres were chosen, we got the Kia Optima straight into the workshop.

As with every tyre job we do, the process includes the following:

  • Removing the old tyres safely
  • Inspecting the wheels for any damage
  • Fitting new valves where required
  • Mounting the new RoadX tyres
  • Balancing each wheel to eliminate vibration
  • Setting tyre pressures to the correct levels

Taking the time to do things properly is what ensures a smooth and safe drive once the car leaves us.

Immediate Improvement on the Road

After fitting the new tyres, the improvement was clear. The vehicle felt more stable, steering was sharper, and braking performance was noticeably better.

That’s something we hear quite often—customers don’t always realise how much their old tyres were affecting the car until they drive away on a fresh set.

With the new RoadX tyres fitted, this Kia Optima is now ready for whatever the Yorkshire roads throw at it.

Why Keeping an Eye on Your Tyres Matters: Kia Optima for new RoadX Tyres

This job is a good reminder of how important it is to regularly check your tyres. Even a quick visual inspection can help spot issues early.

Things to look out for include:

  • Low tread depth
  • Uneven wear
  • Cracks or damage to the tyre surface
  • Changes in how the car handles

If you’re unsure, we’re always happy to take a look and give honest advice.

Nissan Qashqai for RoadX Tyres

Another busy day at Pellon Tyres brought in another smart-looking vehicle — this time a very clean Nissan Qashqai, a model we see regularly around Halifax and across Calderdale. The owner came in knowing the tyres were getting tired, and after a proper inspection, it was clear the car needed a full set of four new tyres.

After discussing the options, he decided on a very sensible budget choice: 4 x 215/55R18 99V XL RXMotion H12 tyres. It’s a brand we’ve supplied to local drivers for several years now, and one that continues to earn good feedback for both mileage and reliability.

The Nissan Qashqai – A Car That Changed the Market

When the Nissan Qashqai first arrived in the UK back in 2007, it quickly changed the way people thought about family cars. Instead of choosing between a hatchback and a large 4×4, drivers suddenly had something in the middle — a practical crossover with a higher driving position, good visibility, and plenty of space.

It didn’t take long for the Qashqai to become a familiar sight on Yorkshire roads. Around Halifax and Calderdale, where we’ve got steep hills, tight streets, and mixed road surfaces, the Qashqai suits local driving perfectly. It’s comfortable, easy to get in and out of, and gives drivers confidence in all sorts of weather.

Over the years Nissan has refined the model with improved comfort, safety features, and fuel efficiency, but one thing has remained the same—it’s a car built for everyday family life.

Why Tyres Matter on a Qashqai: Nissan Qashqai for RoadX Tyres

Because the Qashqai sits slightly higher than a normal hatchback and is often used for family trips, shopping runs, and commuting, tyres play a big role in how the car feels on the road.

Worn tyres can make the steering feel vague and reduce grip, especially on wet roads — something we know all too well here in Yorkshire. A fresh set of tyres makes a noticeable difference to ride comfort, braking, and overall confidence behind the wheel.

In this case, the customer wanted a tyre that offered good value without sacrificing safety or durability.

RoadX RXMotion H12 – A Budget Tyre That Delivers

The customer chose the RoadX RX Motion H12, and it’s a tyre we’ve grown to trust over the last few years. While it sits in the budget category, it performs well for everyday driving and has become increasingly popular with local motorists.

What we’ve noticed from customer feedback is:

  • Good mileage reports over long-term use
  • Stable handling in normal UK driving conditions
  • Comfortable ride quality
  • Excellent value for money

For many drivers, especially those covering regular local journeys around Halifax, Sowerby Bridge, or out towards the Calder Valley, this kind of tyre makes perfect sense. Not everyone needs a premium brand — sometimes a reliable budget option is exactly the right choice.

Real-World Experience Matters: Nissan Qashqai for RoadX Tyres

One thing we always say at Pellon Tyres is that workshop experience counts for a lot. We don’t just read about tyres — we fit them every day and hear directly from customers about how they perform months and years later.

The RoadX brand has built a steady reputation with our customers. Drivers often come back telling us they’ve had good wear rates and no issues, which is exactly what people want when they’re watching the household budget but still want something dependable.

Driving in Halifax and Calderdale

Local roads can be tough on tyres. From steep climbs up towards the moors to rougher surfaces and frequent stop-start traffic, tyres take a lot of punishment here. Add in Yorkshire rain and colder mornings, and having a fresh set fitted really does make a difference.

The Qashqai left the workshop feeling planted and smooth again, ready for many more miles around Calderdale and beyond.

Another Happy Customer on the Road: Nissan Qashqai for RoadX Tyres

Once the new RoadX tyres were fitted, balanced, and checked, the difference was obvious. The customer drove away happy, knowing the car was safe and ready for daily use.

Jobs like this remind us why we always offer clear advice and a range of options — because every driver has different needs and budgets.

Suzuki Swift Tyres and Halifax’s Early Winter Rush – A Busy Start to the Week at Pellon Tyres

Monday 17th November turned out just as we expected here at Pellon Tyre & Autocentre — absolutely heaving from the moment we opened the shutters. As soon as the weekend’s weather forecast mentioned the chance of snowfall later in the week, the phones started ringing and the forecourt soon filled up with drivers wanting checks, winter tyres, and quick advice before the cold snap settles in.

To be fair, anyone who lives around Halifax, especially up the hills towards Mount Tabor, Wainstalls, Mixenden, or Queensbury, knows exactly why people take these warnings seriously. We’re perched right on the edge of the Pennines, and that means winter arrives here earlier than it does for much of the country. You can have bright sunshine down in Brighouse or Elland, while we’re brushing snow off the forecourt up here at Pellon Lane. It’s the price we pay for living in such a cracking bit of Yorkshire — stunning scenery, but hills that love to surprise us!

A Suzuki Swift in for a Free Tyre Check

One of the first visitors of the day was a lovely lady who called in with her Suzuki Swift tyre check. With the cold weather looming, she wanted peace of mind, and that’s exactly what our free checks are for. The work was carried out by Ben, our latest recruit and a cracking lad. He’s already proving himself to be a proper asset to the team — steady hands, sharp eyes, and plenty of confidence for someone new to the trade.

Ben soon spotted that two of the tyres were below the legal limit, and because the Swift is a light little car, good tread depth makes a massive difference to grip, especially in wet or snowy conditions. He also noticed the alignment was slightly out — hardly unusual given the potholes we dodge every day in Calderdale!

We talked her through her options, and she chose two 185/55×16 RoadX tyres, which are excellent value and ideal for everyday driving around Halifax’s hills and bends. Once fitted and aligned, the car was good to go — safe, steady, and ready for whatever winter throws our way this week.

Why Early Winters Matter for Tyre Safety: suzuki-swift-tyre-check

Anyone who’s lived up here long enough will remember winters like 2010, 2013, and even the big freeze of the mid-80s, when Halifax and the surrounding villages were blanketed for weeks. The cold settles in fast on our high ground, and once the wind blows in across the Pennines, it turns wet roads icy in no time. Good tyres aren’t a luxury in this part of Yorkshire — they’re genuinely essential.

That’s why we always see a big burst of activity after the first whisper of snow. Drivers who live up steep roads such as Claremount, Norton Tower, or Boothtown know how easily a bit of snow turns into a sliding session if tyres are worn. It’s the same story every year: the forecast comes out, everyone remembers last winter, and suddenly Monday morning is full to the brim!

A Bit of Suzuki Swift History—With a Local Touch

The Suzuki Swift has become a familiar sight on Halifax roads over the years. First introduced in the UK during the 1980s, it quickly built a reputation as a small, reliable, no-nonsense little car — perfect for nipping up and down the steep streets of the upper Calder Valley. Plenty of first-time drivers in Halifax have cut their teeth on a Swift because they’re cheap to run, easy to insure, and surprisingly tough for a small hatchback.

By the early 2000s, the Swift gained more modern styling and better handling, winning fans across Yorkshire. It became popular with commuters heading along the A629, students travelling between Halifax and Huddersfield, and families who needed something compact enough for town but nippy enough for our twisty country lanes.

We’ve seen hundreds of them through our doors over the years — from older models needing exhausts and brakes to brand-new ones in for winter tyres. They’re dependable little cars, and with good tyres on, they handle our hilly Halifax roads far better than you might think.

Keeping Halifax Drivers Safe This Winter

So as winter sets in—early, as usual—it’s a good reminder for drivers around Halifax, Sowerby Bridge, Luddenden, and beyond to get their tyres checked. A quick look at tread depth can prevent a nasty skid, especially when the temperature drops below freezing.

You can always call in to us for a free tyre check; no appointment is needed. We’ll make sure your tyres, pressures, and tread are safe for the season — and if you want winter tyres or all-weather options, we’ve plenty in stock.

Suzuki Vitara Gets a Fresh RoadX Tyre at Pellon Tyres, Halifax

It was another busy day at Pellon Tyre and Autocentre in Halifax when a splendid-looking metallic blue Suzuki Vitara pulled onto the forecourt. The owner, a friendly local customer from Elland, called in to have a tyre check done — just to make sure everything was safe and sound before a few family trips planned for the weekend.

Our technician Adam Dale carried out the inspection, as thorough as ever, checking pressures, tread depth, and the overall condition of each tyre. Adam’s one of those lads who doesn’t miss a trick — he’s got a good eye for spotting wear patterns or sidewall damage.

After a careful look, Adam found that three tyres were in great shape, but one was getting close to the legal limit and needed replacing. The customer, wanting good value without breaking the bank, decided to go for a RoadX tyre — a solid, budget-friendly option that we often recommend to customers who do mainly local driving around Halifax and West Yorkshire.

A Quick Tyre Check Can Save a Lot of Trouble: suzuki-vitara-roadx-tyres-halifax

We’re always happy when people call in for a tyre check before there’s a problem. So many drivers only notice their tyres when they’re flat — or worse, when they fail an MOT! Regular checks help spot small issues before they turn into something bigger.

At Pellon, we offer free tyre safety checks, and they’re well worth taking advantage of, especially with the changing seasons. Here in West Yorkshire, the mix of wet weather, steep hills, and uneven road surfaces can be tough on tyres. We’ve got everything from cobbled roads in Halifax town centre to bumpy lanes up around Mixenden and Greetland — all of which give your suspension and tyres a proper workout.

By keeping an eye on tread depth and pressure, you not only stay legal but also improve your fuel economy and braking performance — two things that every driver appreciates, especially with today’s fuel prices.

RoadX Tyres – A Smart Choice for Everyday Driving: suzuki-vitara-roadx-tyres-halifax

The customer chose a RoadX tyre, which is a brand we’re quite happy to recommend when someone wants decent quality at a fair price. They might not have the same prestige as Michelin or Continental, but they’re well made, reliable, and perfect for everyday use.

RoadX is actually owned by one of the world’s largest tyre manufacturers, and their products are designed using modern technology, offering a nice balance of grip, durability, and comfort. For cars like the Suzuki Vitara — used mainly for family runs, local shopping trips, and the odd motorway journey — they’re ideal.

We’ve fitted quite a few of them over the last couple of years for customers across Halifax, Brighouse, and Huddersfield, and the feedback has been spot on. They handle well in both wet and dry conditions and tend to wear evenly when properly maintained.

The Vitara’s owner was pleased to learn that the new RoadX tyre came with a good mileage expectancy and a quiet tread pattern, helping make every drive that bit smoother.

A Bit About the Suzuki Vitara – A True All-Rounder

The Suzuki Vitara has been a familiar sight on British roads since the late 1980s. It started out as a compact 4×4 with a bit of rugged character — perfect for drivers who wanted something smaller than a Land Rover but still capable of tackling country lanes and rough terrain.

Over the years, the Vitara has evolved into a stylish and comfortable compact SUV, ideal for modern family life. These days, it’s just as happy popping into Halifax for a bit of shopping as it is exploring the back roads of the Calder Valley or the hills around Mytholmroyd and Ripponden.

Suzuki’s reputation for reliability has made the Vitara a popular choice across West Yorkshire. It’s a well-built, practical car with a bit of flair — especially in that metallic blue! Drivers love the raised seating position, good visibility, and decent boot space for the school run or a weekend away to the coast.

We’ve looked after plenty of Vitaras over the years at Pellon, from the early 1990s models with their chunky 4WD setups to the modern ones packed with hybrid engines and clever safety tech.

Tyre Care Tips from the Team at Pellon: suzuki-vitara-roadx-tyres-halifax

Adam, who fitted the new RoadX tyre, always gives customers a bit of advice before sending them off. Here are a few of his top tips for keeping your tyres in good nick:

  • Check your tyre pressures every couple of weeks. Underinflated tyres wear out faster and can affect fuel economy.

  • Keep an eye on tread depth. The legal minimum is 1.6 mm, but we recommend replacing them at around 3 mm for the best grip in wet conditions.

  • Watch for uneven wear. This can be a sign of alignment issues — something we can easily check and correct at Pellon.

  • Rotate your tyres every 6,000–8,000 miles to help them wear evenly.

  • And, of course, pop in for a free check any time you’re unsure!

These small steps can make a big difference to how your car handles and how long your tyres last — especially when you’re tackling the hills and bends around Halifax!

Back on the Road – One Happy Customer: suzuki-vitara-roadx-tyres-halifax

Once Adam had the new RoadX tyre fitted and balanced and the pressures checked across all four wheels, the Suzuki Vitara was ready to go. The customer was delighted—they’d come in for a quick check and left with peace of mind, knowing their car was safe and ready for the road ahead.

It’s always nice to see the smile on a customer’s face when a job’s done right — and at Pellon Tyres, that’s what we pride ourselves on. Whether it’s a high-end sports car or a family SUV like this one, every vehicle gets the same care and attention.
