Kumho Tyres Design Award-Winners for design of the Ecsta Le Sport KU39

Kumho Tyres Design Award;Kumho tyres believe in good looks as well as performance

One thing to me that determines a good tyre, is the tyres looks. Many tyre manufacturers are now looking in that direction, the fact that a tyre should also look good, when fitted to a classy car. You only have to look at Pirelli tyres used in F1 racing, with all the colours that they use to make the tyres fit into the overall picture of the racing scene.

One of first tyre companies to work on their image for better tyre design, was Vredestein tyres in Holland. They contracted the great car designer team from the Giugiaro Design studio.

This new concept of combining design and tyre performance gave a great boost to the Dutch tyre company. Vredestein winter tyres are now World famous for their performance in winter conditions and indeed now win many awards from the leading European tyre magazine tests.

Kumho tyres are aiming for high design standards

Now one of the Worlds up and coming tyre companies, Kumho tyres are following in the footsteps of the major tyre companies by winning design awards.

Mid-Range Kumho Tyres-Always try and Ask the Experts for Advice About TYRES

 Post Updated 26th Dec 2013/22nd April 2016

Mid-Range Kumho Tyres-Always good advice about Tyres for our customers

Mid-Range Kumho Tyres-Many consumers don’t know enough about tyres to make an educated choice when making a purchase. For most people, the choice comes down to price especially in these times of

recession. Other people want to stick to the same brand that they have always fitted to the car and are satisfied with the performance they have had out of their old ones. We generally find that the customers who come into the depot will take our advice on the products that we recommend. Over the tears, we have sold millions of the round black things covering many brands and as long as we have the trust in the products that we sell, then the customers are prepared to take our advice.

At the moment, we are very big advocates of Mid-Range Kumho Tyres and also General mid-range tyreswe have every faith that the Mid-Range Kumho Tyres Ecsta Le Sports KU39 will perform extremely well and this confidence is passed onto our customers. I have personally travelled to watch racing BMWs screech round the race track fitted with  KH17 and I have asked the car drivers for their opinion about their performance, and I got nothing but praise for these tyre Reviews. This gives me great confidence when selling this excellent product.

Regardless of Tesco Tyres choice, it is necessary that the motorists understand why tyres are so important. Your tyres are your car’s only contact with the road. Even the racing cars with their powerful engines , strongest brakes, or most advanced anti-skid systems such as the racing BMWs, are at the mercy of the tyre’s grip on the road. Every move a driver makes with the steering wheel or brake or accelerator pedal is transmitted to the road through the four contact patches of the tyres. This not very much although tyres are getting much wider on

to-days cars

Consumers must select a product that will work year ’round and in most conceivable driving situations. However, motorists often ask their cars’ tyres to do many things, and there are many times a vehicle’s tyres aren’t up to the task.
Selecting the right ones for your driving needs is as important as selecting the right vehicle. The ones that are badly worn won’t be able to displace enough water to prevent aquaplaning Performance Summers won’t be able to get much grip in snow. All-season tyres can’t manage the heat build up in high-speed driving. Passenger car tyres might not be able to carry the heavy load found in a contractor’s pickup.

But before consumers can select the right tyres, they have to understand a little tyre technology first.

Worn tyres won’t be able to displace enough water to prevent hydroplaning. High-performance tyres won’t be able to get much grip in snow, but  winters  will give you the grip in snow that you want, as I have stated find the right ones for the job and you will be safe in the knowledge that you Mid-Range Kumho Tyreshave been advised correctly by tyre experts here at Pellon tyres in Halifax.

NEW TYRES cost Less than Part Worn tyres

NEW TYRES cost

New tyres cost- works out cheaper

Let me start off. Thus, by saying that this is not the first time this debate has reared its head before. Thus, the problem mostly occurs when we are in a recession. Naturally, motorists have to make cost-cutting measures in their budgets. Which means them looking for cheap tyres in Halifax. This is when the debate begins.

In the last bad economic squeeze. Hence, in the 1990s the EU and the UK Government had the same problem. As we are having now. Businesses selling tyres were tempted to store. As a result, any good looking tyre that they removed. hence, to sell on as part worn tyres. This was to try to keep their companies up and running. They were mainly small type tyre shop type businesses. Who saw this as the only way out.

Also, people saw this as an opportunity. So to make some easy money. As a result, and started going round tyre retailers. Collecting their so-called “old scrap tyres”. They would then pick out the so called part worn tyres.Selling them on to the  careless motorists. In fact, I know one dealer that did so well. That he went to night school to learn German so that he could go live in Germany and set up business sifting through the Germans old tyres to re-sell here in the UK.

All these methods of obtaining second-hand tyres were flawed by the fact that the tyres were never tested. Although most of these tyres would probably have been alright, some were not and it was pot luck whether you got the good ones or the bad ones.

NEW TYRES cost

After much pressure from the tyre industry and consumer groups, a new set of rules and laws were devised to protect the consumer. “IF YOU CLICK THIS LINK YOU WILL SEE WHAT

NEW TYRES cost,

39/365 Tired (Photo credit: Mykl Roventine)

THEY WERE” http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1994/3117/regulation/7/made.

To me, the most important part is the fact that the part worn tyre must say”PART WORN” in capital letter on the tyre and it must be vulcanised not written or cut out in the sidewall. So if you just can not afford a new or remould tyre, please check this out, if it does not say this on , please do not have it fitted. This is the actual wording of part 12.

In order for a mark to meet the requirements of this paragraph, it must consist of the word “PART-WORN” in upper case letters at least 4 millimetres high and must have been permanently and legibly applied to the tyre other than by hot branding or otherwise cutting into the tyre

Unfortunately, we are now in yet another rescission and the same problems are cropping up as in the 90s. The problem is that we now have a new generation of tyre shops spring up all over the country selling part worn tyres. Unfortunately, we appear to back where we were before the 90’s tyre laws came out with people selling tyres that have not been tested and without the part, worn labels vulcanised on. This is more of a problem because our roads and motorways have become much faster and much more congested, and may turn a tyre blow-out into a major motorway incident ?.

NEW TYRES cost; Go for the  cheap new tyres they work out at a less cost than part worn tyres.

TyreSafe is now trying to educate the motorist about the dangers of unchecked part worn tyres. More importantly, they have investigated the “MYTH” that part worn tyres are cheaper than NEW TYRES cost. In fact according to their figures, priced in millimetres of tread new tyres are actually cheaper than part worn tyres. This is an average cost because new tyre prices differ. With motoring costs reaching record levels, a growing number of drivers are choosing part worn tyres in the belief that they offer better value. However, TyreSafe’s investigation into NEW TYRES cost also disproved this myth as it found that the average cost per mm of the useable tread of the part worn tyres was £6.33, whereas the comparable cost when selecting an equivalent new tyre was 16 per cent lower at £5.32. Please use the link bellow for the excellent article.

NEW TYRES cost-part worn tyres are ok if they are inspected and labelled

Cheap New Tyres- are they false economy ? NO Not compared to Part Worn Tyres

Cheap New Tyres

Cheap New Tyres are better than part worn ones

Our customers will buy what they can afford to buy. Hence, in these times of tight recession and strict household budgets. (I myself do not blame them and sometimes will go for the cheap option).

I think that it may be worth pointing out that cheap part worn tyres “are what they really are”.Most of the cheaper brands are copies of tyres (many using inferior quality ingredients) that are made by the major tyre companies and usually made in the far East and China. There is nothing wrong with tyres made in China. Because all imported tyres into the European Union will shortly have to be tested for different qualities. Thus, due to the impending new labelling system. That comes into force later on this year. Therefore, and all imported tyres will have to have certain standards.

Cheap Tyres- are they false economy? that is classed as economy or budgets. Hence, are fine to buy.For this reason, they should not be any threat to road safety. In my opinion, are a much less threat than buying Part Worn Tyres UK or

"<yoastmark

remoulds. The later being the safest of the two choices. Remember it is your own and your families safety. That should be considered when buying all types of car tyres.

Cheap New Tyres

I think it should also be pointed out that (in my opinion), the customers with the newer, larger and faster cars should consider the options when buying new ones. It may be worth remembering that you may be putting you and your family at risk by fitting inferior products with perhaps the wrong speed rating or load rating for your particular car. If you do own a larger car you may consider dropping to a mid-range tyre we at Pellon tyres recommend a make called General tyres, one of the differences is that car tyre makers, participate in motor sport events and use the information gained to develop a better product for the consumer, cheap tyres do not offer any of this, they are simply copied as I have stated earlier in this blog,

Cheap New Tyres- are they a false economy are a good option

As I have stated if you are financially stretched it may be worth considering a drop to a mid-range tyre. The Mid-Range Tyres are also much better in quality to cheap tyres imported from the far east.

Motorists who have normal family cars will be fine on economy new tyres whilst the guys who drive Mercedes and BMWs, should really stick to the original equipment standards of the tyres that were on their cars as original equipment , this type of car was developed in the design stage to work with the tyres that are fitted when the car was new, and the tyres should be fitted to the same standard as the old tyres.

To finish you are still better buying cheap tyres that are new and not any other tyre types, “safety should always come first”. In short, most people are sensible to choose the product for the price that suits them. Some motorists go for Part Worn Car Tyres, this is fine but they should remember that a law was brought out in 1995 that states that part works  should be pressure tested and inspected before labeling as safe to use, if the ones you are buying do not have this test label please do not buy them you simply do not know where they have been, opt for budget new ones instead.

Early Radial Car Tyres-Which were the First Radial Car Tyres in the 1960’s

 Post Updated 26th Dec 2013

Early Radial Car Tyres;  car tyres my  beginnings and the tyre law

My very first job in the auto trade was as an apprentice mechanic in a small Yorkshire garage. I only spent four years there and after having an argument with my

Early Radial Car Tyres

Early Radial Car Tyres; The Goodyear G800 will be one of the early tyres remembered by my older readers, but, unfortunately, the tyre was very noisy because of the block tread pattern and did not give very good mileage.

boss we decided to part companies. The best thing to come out of my old job was the fact that I became interested in tyres. Very strange you may think but that’s the truth. I had to repair all the punctured tyres and fit new tyres using a tyre lever, a very difficult thing to do until I got the knack of it.

Most punctures in those days were to tyre inner tubes. Most Early Radial Car Tyres in those days were fitted with tubes and tyres were used right up to the tyre becoming completely bald and beyond. There were no tyre laws in my early days this would come later on in my career.

I was now at home under my mother’s feet looking for, a new job. To my surprise, a vacancy for a tyre fitter appeared in the local paper. My mother rushed me off to the tyre centre within minutes of the advertisement appearing. The then manager a guy called Brian Pitchforth interviewed me and was very impressed that I could take off car wheels and fit and repair tyres by hand using tyre levers.

I received a polite letter saying that I had got the job. My mother was more pleased than me because I would be no longer under her feet and she would have my board money coming in again. I started work the week after and soon got settled into the job. I truly loved my new job and settled into my new role as tyre fitter.

This was to be the begging of my lifetime love for the tyre industry and was to set me up to run my own business in years to come.

The company was called The Tyre House, a local company soon to be bought out by the ever-expanding Dunlop retail outlet called Brigg’ s Tyres. Briggs were a group of tyre companies and were soon to merge with another group called Marsham Tyres, this was later to become National Tyres a wholly owned company of Dunlop Tyres.

In those days, the major tyre manufacturers were hell bent on buying out any tyre distributor to consolidate their share of the tyre market. This was due to the

ever increasing market place as cars were becoming affordable to more and more people as jobs became more plentiful. Therefore more people needed Early Radial Car Tyres,

The first radial tyres came out and I was promoted to office manager

for my enthusiasm and it was beginning to get easier promotions in a large company such as Dunlop. I eventually left National Tyres and moved to Goodyear Wolverhampton and a  Goodyear owned company in Leeds to try my hand with giant earth mover tyres, but will never forget the friends I met some of whom were friends for life and my first job in the tyre industry.

Performance Tyres-Should You Fit Performance Tyres to a Performance Car?

Performance Tyres

Stick to performance tyres

If you happen to own a performance car.So, or a sporty BMW or Mercedes. Therefore, and require new tyres. Then it is my opinion that you stick to the tyres that were supplied original equipment on your

performance tyres

Yokohama makes excellent performance tyres gained from their motorsport participation.

car. Some people try to cut corners by fitting “cheap tyres .” Hence,to this type of car. But these are built with higher speed ratings. Thus, than those for your more usual kinds of cars. They usually have a softer compound. For this reason, which enables them to grip better. Especially, when cornering in wet weather at high speeds. This better grip allows the drivers of performance cars.Consequently, to have more confidence when driving on slippery, greasy roads. Perhaps, after there has been a thunder storm.

Performance Tyres

The secret of selecting the correct ones in the first place is to try stick to the ones that you have on as original equipment. For example, if you have Pirelli p-zero fitted then stick to the same. You can find as much information as you like on the internet, by checking out the manufacturers information about the ones you have fitted to your car. This is important for if the tyre that you have on has been superseded by a new type. It will tell you if the new form is comparable to your old one and so safe to fit when mixed on the same car.

When you buy your new replacements, please make sure that the new ones have the correct speed rating. This is on the side-wall and is marked after the size and load rating for example 19565h15 88 H; the 88 is the load rating this tells you the weight that it can safely carry, and the”H” is the speed rating in this case above 130 mph. All the manufacturers are constantly upgrading their products to keep up with the ever-changing car makers quest for faster more economical cars, and the tyre companies must follow with better products. Top companies such as Michelin, Goodyear and Yokohama take part in racing events to test different compounds and designs for the average guy on the road.

When the car is third hand then buy mid range tyres

To sum up, in my opinion, I think that drivers of the faster cars should stick to the same ones that were in the car when they bought it. If the vehicle is third hand, then it should be all-right to fit mid-range tyres such as Yokohama tyres to save on costs but retain a good quality tyre.

Regular Wheel Alignment-needs adjustment at “Regular Intervals”to Save your Tyre Wear.

Regular Wheel Alignment

Regular Wheel Alignment; Potholes damage your wheel alignment and tyres

Regular Wheel Alignment

Broken springs damaged by potholes

Regular Wheel Alignment

Regular Wheel Alignment

Proper Wheel Alignment; In the Halifax area of West Yorkshire we have a high incidence of cars requiring Wheel Alignment. The primary cause for this is driving over potholes and speed bumps. Pothole damage can  alter the vehicle’s steering and suspension geometries or damage critical components such as tyres and steering parts. Which can reduce the vehicle’s safety or create extra running costs? Out of alignment can also damage the tyres prematurely, but by ensuring the wheels are correctly aligned, (this could be avoided), and drivers can minimise the effects of any pothole or speed bump damage and ensure they remain as safe as possible.

Regular Wheel Alignment

The recent severe weather will inevitably increase the number of potholes. These can cause the damage. Due to the fact, the holes may be covered with snow and ice. The problem could cause some serious safety issues for drivers. If a motorist knows that they have gone down a pothole they should get their alignment checked, most auto centres will give you a free alignment check, and you only pay if the alignment is out and it needs adjusting.

Another sign that your alignment is out is that your steering wheel may not be straight, this will need all the front alignment re-setting and could take an hour or two you could incur an extra cost, so it may be wise if you asked for an estimate of the cost. Another thing you should watch for when having your alignment checked is the problem of seized up steering parts. The garage or auto centre may have to use some form of heat to free off seized steering parts; This will take much longer, and an extra charge will usually be applied, wheel once again an excellent auto centre will warn you of this and give you the choice of to have it done or not.

Regular Wheel Alignment;Go to a Good Tyres Centre for WheelAlignment

Any good auto-centre will make you a full tyre service for free, he will check your tyre pressures, your tyre tread depth, in the UK the tread depth is 1.6 mm for 3/4 of the tread width from the centre of the tread to the edges, the will also check your tyres for bulges and cuts and then inflate your tyres to the correct pressures, this will be all part of the service which should be carried out with a smile if not go somewhere else.
To sum up have your Car Wheel Alignment  carried out at regular intervals, especially if you think that you have hit a pothole or gone over a speed bump too fast.

Always have the alignment checked if you are having new tyres fitted, even if the auto centre ask you to come back later, a few days will not scrub your tyres off, have your pressures and tyre wear checked regularly and if have any doubt of what tyre to buy always go for a mid-range make, this will mean that you get good quality and the tyres will be cheaper than a branded make. Once again a good garage or auto-centre will be glad to help and check your tyres for free.
