038 Apollo-Power Car Battery
038 Apollo-Power Car Battery
When on a delivery in Leeds recently. So, I came upon a fine example of a Triumph Spitfire Car. Of course probable the best that I seen for a long time. Consequently, the cars owner had purchased online a new 12 Volt Battery. Accordingly, I was delivering him an 038 Apollo-Power Car Battery .
Of course, I knew that this battery only fitted older cars (that’s because i am old myself) . Lucky for me the guy was at home when I made the delivery . So I asked him which car the battery fitted. Surprisingly, he was only too pleased to talk about his “pride and joy”! not the BMW parked in his drive ! but a beautiful red Triumph Spitfire in my pictures.
The guy even sent me a couple of pictures for my blog as I had forgotten my camera. What a great find ! The 038 Apollo-Power Car Battery are now one of our popular batteries. They are sealed and maintenance free. The 038 Apollo-Power Car Battery also comes with a three year full warranty. Fortunately, it is also available for collection from Batteriesontheweb in Halifax Yorkshire UK. Of course during normal working hours.
The Triumph Spitfire was always a big favorite of mine
So, never forgetting the first one that I actually owned. In fact, it was a rusty white colour and was my pride and joy. I had just bought a new set of 155×13 remould tyres. Before setting off, for the traditional bank holiday Monday outing to Scarborough. Along with a few other friends.
My Triumph Spitfires trip out to the coast?
Prior to the Breathalyzer, the Police just asked you to walk a straight line. Of course, if they suspected that you had been drinking. My friends and I were invited to a party in a small village on the outskirts of Scarborough. After a few drinks my then friend, Paul asked if we fancied going to the “Toby Jug” on the sea front. This was where all the “In crowd” used to hang out.
Paul, my friend had a big old Austin A55 saloon and I set of towards Scarborough with Paul not far behind. We were heading for the A64, the main Leeds to Scarborough road. We took a sharp bend just before the road junction with the A64. Alarmingly, I had to slam on the brakes very hard. So, in order to stop at the main road junction. Unfortunately, my friend Paul’s brakes were not so good. Subsequently, he smashed straight into the back of me.
To my shock and horror a Police car was just passing on the busy A64 and witnessed what had happened.
I froze as he walked towards me . Shockingly, my smashed up Triumph Spitfire which had Paul’s A55 smashed into the back of me. Fortunately, the Policeman was on bank holiday traffic duty on the busy A64. Quickly, asking us if we were” injured or not”. Of course,we told him that we were alright ! He then apologized that he could not help us as he had traffic to look after !”what a relief” ! I could not believe our luck.
Indeed I was certain that we would be spending the night in a police cell. My pride and joy was written off and towed the following day back to Dewsbury in West Yorkshire where I then lived with my parents. Altogether, a happy and sad day for me and my scrap car.
