Uniroyal Tyres- Now under the same banner as Continental and General Tyres

Uniroyal Tyres

Uniroyal tyres in Leeds , UK

My first dealings with the Uniroyal and General tyres brand was in the late sixties. Hence, Uniroyal Tyres had joined into a partnership with Englebert tyres. Of Liege in Belgium. Belgium seemed like a million miles away in the sixties.Of course, we had seen some experience with the Englebert brand.Because of the singer Englebert Humperdinck.Who was always in the music charts in those days. So, we used to call these tyres after the singer.uniroyal tyres

After the amalgamation. The brand became Uniroyal Englebert Deutschland AG. Thus, this came about in 1963. After a few years using that name. Then the brand became just Uniroyal in 1966.Hence, the year when England won the World cup at soccer.Naturally, well remembered by us oldies.

Uniroyal tyres carried on trading well into the 1970’s.Consequently, when they were sold to Continental tyres in 1979. Who began to make the tyres in its different European factories. As a result, including Scotland here in the UK.

One of the most advertised tyre products. Was in fact Uniroyal. We probably all remember the TV adds with an Orangutan. Thus, holding up an umbrella in the rain. For this reason, naming the tyre “The rain tyre”. Because, it was good in the wet weather. This name has still stuck.Hence, with the Uniroyal tyre brand. Naturally, and indeed we at Pellon tyres in Halifax UK are still selling this famous tyre. Which is still remaining a popular tyre brand for our customers.

The tyre brand that helped Uniroyal tyres to become a household name was the “Rally 180”

Also known as the rain tyre.Because of the umbrella symbol on the side wall. In 1991 Uniroyal tyres were the first company to bring out a directional tread design . The RTT-1 tyre. This design was copied by many other tyre companies. Therefore, proved to be very successful for motorists .

Winter tyres were also becoming more popular, with more and more European motorists driving to the ski slopes and Uniroyal did not miss out on an opportunity, bringing out the MS plus 44 winter tyre. This winter tyre became a test winner in many of the motoring magazine tyre tests, and consequently became very popular in the main ski countries such as France and Germany.

In 2007 Uniroyal brought out the “Rally 550” tyre which became a “Best buy”in many of the consumer magazines of the time and in 2008 Uniroyal tyres introduced the very good “Uniroyal Rainsport 2” updated by the Uniroyal Rain Sport 3 that we sell today.

Mid-Range Kumho Tyres-Always try and Ask the Experts for Advice About TYRES

 Post Updated 26th Dec 2013/22nd April 2016

Mid-Range Kumho Tyres-Always good advice about Tyres for our customers

Mid-Range Kumho Tyres-Many consumers don’t know enough about tyres to make an educated choice when making a purchase. For most people, the choice comes down to price especially in these times of

recession. Other people want to stick to the same brand that they have always fitted to the car and are satisfied with the performance they have had out of their old ones. We generally find that the customers who come into the depot will take our advice on the products that we recommend. Over the tears, we have sold millions of the round black things covering many brands and as long as we have the trust in the products that we sell, then the customers are prepared to take our advice.

At the moment, we are very big advocates of Mid-Range Kumho Tyres and also General mid-range tyreswe have every faith that the Mid-Range Kumho Tyres Ecsta Le Sports KU39 will perform extremely well and this confidence is passed onto our customers. I have personally travelled to watch racing BMWs screech round the race track fitted with  KH17 and I have asked the car drivers for their opinion about their performance, and I got nothing but praise for these tyre Reviews. This gives me great confidence when selling this excellent product.

Regardless of Tesco Tyres choice, it is necessary that the motorists understand why tyres are so important. Your tyres are your car’s only contact with the road. Even the racing cars with their powerful engines , strongest brakes, or most advanced anti-skid systems such as the racing BMWs, are at the mercy of the tyre’s grip on the road. Every move a driver makes with the steering wheel or brake or accelerator pedal is transmitted to the road through the four contact patches of the tyres. This not very much although tyres are getting much wider on

to-days cars

Consumers must select a product that will work year ’round and in most conceivable driving situations. However, motorists often ask their cars’ tyres to do many things, and there are many times a vehicle’s tyres aren’t up to the task.
Selecting the right ones for your driving needs is as important as selecting the right vehicle. The ones that are badly worn won’t be able to displace enough water to prevent aquaplaning Performance Summers won’t be able to get much grip in snow. All-season tyres can’t manage the heat build up in high-speed driving. Passenger car tyres might not be able to carry the heavy load found in a contractor’s pickup.

But before consumers can select the right tyres, they have to understand a little tyre technology first.

Worn tyres won’t be able to displace enough water to prevent hydroplaning. High-performance tyres won’t be able to get much grip in snow, but  winters  will give you the grip in snow that you want, as I have stated find the right ones for the job and you will be safe in the knowledge that you Mid-Range Kumho Tyreshave been advised correctly by tyre experts here at Pellon tyres in Halifax.

About Eric Roberts

Hi, I would like to introduce myself. I have worked in the Garage and the Cheap Kumho Tyre industry now for 40 years. I worked for a couple of national tyre companies before starting my first business. I now own a company here in the UK called Pellon Tyre and Auto-centre, and I am a keen blogger about anything to do with cars and their related products that will

help my business.

Cheap New Tyres- are they false economy ? NO Not compared to Part Worn Tyres

Cheap New Tyres

Cheap New Tyres are better than part worn ones

Our customers will buy what they can afford to buy. Hence, in these times of tight recession and strict household budgets. (I myself do not blame them and sometimes will go for the cheap option).

I think that it may be worth pointing out that cheap part worn tyres “are what they really are”.Most of the cheaper brands are copies of tyres (many using inferior quality ingredients) that are made by the major tyre companies and usually made in the far East and China. There is nothing wrong with tyres made in China. Because all imported tyres into the European Union will shortly have to be tested for different qualities. Thus, due to the impending new labelling system. That comes into force later on this year. Therefore, and all imported tyres will have to have certain standards.

Cheap Tyres- are they false economy? that is classed as economy or budgets. Hence, are fine to buy.For this reason, they should not be any threat to road safety. In my opinion, are a much less threat than buying Part Worn Tyres UK or

"<yoastmark

remoulds. The later being the safest of the two choices. Remember it is your own and your families safety. That should be considered when buying all types of car tyres.

Cheap New Tyres

I think it should also be pointed out that (in my opinion), the customers with the newer, larger and faster cars should consider the options when buying new ones. It may be worth remembering that you may be putting you and your family at risk by fitting inferior products with perhaps the wrong speed rating or load rating for your particular car. If you do own a larger car you may consider dropping to a mid-range tyre we at Pellon tyres recommend a make called General tyres, one of the differences is that car tyre makers, participate in motor sport events and use the information gained to develop a better product for the consumer, cheap tyres do not offer any of this, they are simply copied as I have stated earlier in this blog,

Cheap New Tyres- are they a false economy are a good option

As I have stated if you are financially stretched it may be worth considering a drop to a mid-range tyre. The Mid-Range Tyres are also much better in quality to cheap tyres imported from the far east.

Motorists who have normal family cars will be fine on economy new tyres whilst the guys who drive Mercedes and BMWs, should really stick to the original equipment standards of the tyres that were on their cars as original equipment , this type of car was developed in the design stage to work with the tyres that are fitted when the car was new, and the tyres should be fitted to the same standard as the old tyres.

To finish you are still better buying cheap tyres that are new and not any other tyre types, “safety should always come first”. In short, most people are sensible to choose the product for the price that suits them. Some motorists go for Part Worn Car Tyres, this is fine but they should remember that a law was brought out in 1995 that states that part works  should be pressure tested and inspected before labeling as safe to use, if the ones you are buying do not have this test label please do not buy them you simply do not know where they have been, opt for budget new ones instead.

Performance Tyres-Should You Fit Performance Tyres to a Performance Car?

Performance Tyres

Stick to performance tyres

If you happen to own a performance car.So, or a sporty BMW or Mercedes. Therefore, and require new tyres. Then it is my opinion that you stick to the tyres that were supplied original equipment on your

performance tyres

Yokohama makes excellent performance tyres gained from their motorsport participation.

car. Some people try to cut corners by fitting “cheap tyres .” Hence,to this type of car. But these are built with higher speed ratings. Thus, than those for your more usual kinds of cars. They usually have a softer compound. For this reason, which enables them to grip better. Especially, when cornering in wet weather at high speeds. This better grip allows the drivers of performance cars.Consequently, to have more confidence when driving on slippery, greasy roads. Perhaps, after there has been a thunder storm.

Performance Tyres

The secret of selecting the correct ones in the first place is to try stick to the ones that you have on as original equipment. For example, if you have Pirelli p-zero fitted then stick to the same. You can find as much information as you like on the internet, by checking out the manufacturers information about the ones you have fitted to your car. This is important for if the tyre that you have on has been superseded by a new type. It will tell you if the new form is comparable to your old one and so safe to fit when mixed on the same car.

When you buy your new replacements, please make sure that the new ones have the correct speed rating. This is on the side-wall and is marked after the size and load rating for example 19565h15 88 H; the 88 is the load rating this tells you the weight that it can safely carry, and the”H” is the speed rating in this case above 130 mph. All the manufacturers are constantly upgrading their products to keep up with the ever-changing car makers quest for faster more economical cars, and the tyre companies must follow with better products. Top companies such as Michelin, Goodyear and Yokohama take part in racing events to test different compounds and designs for the average guy on the road.

When the car is third hand then buy mid range tyres

To sum up, in my opinion, I think that drivers of the faster cars should stick to the same ones that were in the car when they bought it. If the vehicle is third hand, then it should be all-right to fit mid-range tyres such as Yokohama tyres to save on costs but retain a good quality tyre.

Yokohama Performance Tyres are rapidly catching up with the big boys, due to their involvement in F4 racing and other race events.

recently developed by Yokohama tyres to beat the tough conditions on such rallies and eventually help produce the winner, a great achievement for A048 YOKOHAMA TYRES.

Yokohama tyres are much involved in the field of motor sport and this is why they are amongst the Worlds leading tyre makers.

A048 YOKOHAMA TYRES

Yokohama Advan tyres in action on an F4 car racing at Snetterton in Norfolk.

One of their latest feats was to supply the tyres to winning car driver Toshi Arai taking part in the Rallyof Scotland, driving his Subaru in the Production Cup category. Although this happened at the end of last year ,I have not yet had time to do a A048 YOKOHAMA TYRES tyres blog.

The weather on this rally was very changeable, with heavy rain and sunny spells for most of the race . This made the going on the gravel stages very slippery and tough and not very consistent. This caused many drivers to spin out of control and there were many crashes and competitors having to drop out. The main tyres used in this event were the gravel tyres the A053, this was recently developed by Yokohama tyres to beat the tough conditions on such rallies and eventually help produce the winner, a great achievement for A048 YOKOHAMA TYRES.

Here at Pellon tyres this week we helped a customer out of a dilemma, he had bought a set of new alloy wheels and Yokohama A048-R new tyres. These A048 YOKOHAMA TYRES are made by Yokohama to suit all motor sport needs. These tyres will give a superior control in both wet and dry driving conditions and are specially important to the amateur track day drivers. Any way this customer called out a mobile tyre fitter to fit his A048 YOKOHAMA TYRES but the fitter could not fit them as they were too difficult to fit.

We were able to fit his Yokohama tyres ?

He then brought his tyres and wheels to us at Pellon tyres for us to have a go. Alex and the other lads had to problems fitting and balancing the wheels they were truly professional. Our customer is going to use the wheels at a track day in Oulton Park, driving his wonderful Honda S 2000 sport car. We hope he has a great days racing and thank him for some pictures of his car for my blog.

Bald Car Tyres- Bald tyres are lethal and also dangerous to ALL road users.

Bald Car Tyres

Bald Car Tyres can be killers

Pellon tyres in Halifax West Yorkshire. Hence, has never seen so many bad tyres. Removed from customers wheels. Hence, in 40 years of trading as a tyre business. These bald tyres are a danger. Hence, to all other road users.Of course, and the people who drive about with them on. Car tyre prices have escalated threefold. In the past two years.Consequently, due to the cost increase in the raw materials. Hence, that go on to making tyres. Also, cheap tyres are flooding the European tyre dealers. So, causing a battle for cheap car tyres. Therefore, between all the tyre manufacturers, This is helping to stabilise the price increases. But only very slowly.

We have all had to cut back in these difficult times, but to cut back on buying car tyres will put the vehicle owner and other motorists in great danger. Everybody should change their tyres before they become bald tyres. There is nothing worse. Then coming across a heavy shower, after a beautiful sunny day. Hence, a car with bald tyres. Will start to skid on the wet surface. Thus, and could cause an accident through aquaplaning. For this reason, this is when the tyre is separated. Thus, From the road surface on a wet road, sometimes due to a bald tyre on a wet road, this causes the tyre to lose grip and then the loss of the cars steering causing an accident tom happen.

Bald Car Tyres

When your bald tyres are separated from the road surface by a thin layer of water, your tyre does not grip because of the absence of tread on the tyre and the car can go in any direction when the brakes are applied, according to R.O.S.P.A this is the cause of many motorway crashes.

Also, you may have seen F1 cars during a race, in dry weather the racing cars are fitted with bald tyres (called slicks), but when the weather turns wet, the cars are changed to tyres that have a tread pattern. This is the same for an average car; it is highly dangerous to drive on “bald” tyres and also illegal.

Use your sense and buy new tyres, even cheap tyres are better than having “bald tyres.”

"<yoastmark

A large section of the public car drivers do obey the law when it comes to replacing their tyres, we have been very busy since last November, and it is not all the people that run about on bald tyres, far from it. Many of our customers are looking for, car tyre prices, only to find that we can compete with our top internet competitors.

Dunlop Tyres-One the founder and therefore earliest tyre companies and still a great tyre company.

Dunlop Tyres

John Boyd Dunlop invents the pneumatic tyre for Dunlop tyres

It was back in 1888 in Scotland. Thus, when the pneumatic tyres were invented by John Boyd Dunlop. Yet, another great British invention. He was working on his son’s bicycle at the time. Hence,he came up an inflated rubber tube filled with air. Of course,it was fitted around a metal rim for comfort. Hence, the rubber tyre was born. This invention paved the way for the future of the great company we now know as Dunlop tyres.

In 1985 Dunlop were bought by BTR plc and later a Japanese company Sumitomo were given the rights to make tyres under the Dunlop tyres road brand, it then started producing tyres in its UK subsidiary under the Dunlop Tyres Ltd name.

In 1999, the Sumitomo group began talks with Goodyear tyres and Goodyear bought a 75% stake in the company. Sumitomo carried on making Dunlop products in Japan and Goodyear made Dunlop in North America.

Dunlop Tyres

In 2006, The new Goodyear/Dunlop tyres company stopped making tyres here in the UK. Motorsport tyres are still produced out of Fort Dunlop in BirminghamDunlop Tyres UK, turning out about 300,000 specialist tyres a year.

Fort Dunlop can still be seen from the M6 motorway as you travel through Birmingham but it is a shadow of its former self, joining in with the rest of the decline of British manufacturing in the UK, very sad, I have had many visits to the old tyre factory in its former glory days but now the tyres are produced in China, Poland and Slovenia, not a British product anymore.

Goodyear Dunlop tyres also own two smaller tyre companies,

Fulda and Sava both brands that we used to sell in past and are good quality tyres. Goodyear tyres now operate from offices in Luxembourg and Brussels, who report to the main head office which is still in Akron USA.

Car Tyres Online Guide-Make sure that you order and Get The Right Ones?

Car Tyres Online Guide

Car Tyres Online-your car tyres are life savers?

Many motorists. Do not understand the importance of buying the rightCar Tyres Online. Therefore, they and do not link road safety and accidents. Hence, caused by the fitting of the wrong Car Tyres Online. Thus, many motorists are risking their lives. As a result, of leaving their tyres on the cars for too long. Consequently, after the legal limit has been reached. Indeed, many cars that have had an MOT. Naturally, have been failed with car tyres down to the steel belt.

Of course, this is not acceptable. Because it will be an innocent motorist in another car that will be injured. Therefore, by such disregard for their vehicles and car tyres. It is a good job that we are going to keep the one year DVLA MOT Rules now, to think the Government wanted to make the test every two years (hard to believe when you see the bald tyres that we take off)

So what do we do to improve? In my opinion, we should check (or have checked) our car tyres every week. You should check them for lumps and bumps on the side walls, and check the pressures; this is crucial. If you are elderly or cant manage this task. Therefore, you should go to your local garage or Auto-centre. Of course, to ask the staff to check the car tyres for you, we at Pellon tyres are only too willing the people in Halifax, and check their tyres, you have no excuse if you neglect your tyres going down the motorway at 90 miles an hour anything could happen?.

Car Tyres Online Guide

Car Tyres Online-bald tyres are getting more frequent

Car Tyres Online Guide-When buying new car tyres you should match them as near as possible to your old tyres.

Make sure that the speed and load ratings are the same, and you are matching like for like. Consequently, this has been one of the problems with ordering online; people do not get enough information and order the wrong Car Tyres Online Guide. It then costs them more to correct their errors. Save up for new tyres if possible if you must buy part worn tyres make sure they are legally marked and tested, don’t put any old part worn tyre on, they may have internal damage and been in a car crash.

If you have to buy Cheap Car Tyres, then make sure they are brand new. New Car Tyres Online come in all kind of price ranges to suit all pockets if you don’t know then take the word of your nearest trusted tyre dealer.

Part Worn Tyres Expensive – “You DO NOT SAVE YOU MONEY in the long run”

Post Updated 19th Dec 2013

Part Worn Tyres Expensive-Proof that part worn tyres work out more expensive in the long run

Most tyre experts and motoring organisations are very concerned about the amount of part worn tyres are now fitted here in the UK. The latest motoring organisation to voice their opinion is the very respectful Motorcodes, of which we at Pellon tyres are members (and proud to be so).

These Part Worn Tyres Expensive are generally imported from countries such as Germany, where tyres are generally removed at 3 mil. These Part Worn Tyres Expensive look fine from the outside but there is no saying what Part Worn Tyres Expensivedamage lies under the surface of the tread and could be very dangerous indeed. We are effectively buying old tyres from Germany, the tyres that the Germans throw away as no good any more, I cant believe that we would do such a thing. Part Worn Tyres Expensive also offer a danger to other motorists on the road, they put other drivers at risk because people think they are saving money.

In 1994 part worn tyres came under a law called the “Motor Vehicle Tyres Safety Regulations”, these regulations were to ensure that part worn tyres were properly tested and labelled as such, if people buy tyres that have been tested then this is deemed as ok and suitable for the use on roads, but the Part Worn Tyres Expensive we have come across do not appear to have any checks on them and no label. All part worn tyres must be labelled as such. They must have the words ‘PART- WORN’ marked in capital letters. This must be permanent and legible. (I think this is to give other road users the chance to get out of the way

Many more part worn tyres are now sold because of the economic recession. A recent excellent survey regarding how cheap a part worn tyre really is has been studied and written by a tyre industry expert Stuart Carr. I have posted a link to Stuarts blog and I hope you will click to see that

part worn tyres cost “MORE” than new tyres in the long run in real terms

To finalise any garage that are in Motorcodes will not endorse the sale of part worn tyres.

Recycling Tyres-Garden use-There are many ways to recycle tyres in the garden

Recycling Tyres

Recycling Tyres

Use tyres of the same size.

As a very keen gardener and the owner of a garage business, I am always looking for legal ways of using my old scrap. Tyres are now costing me £1 each for disposal and when you fit as many as we do in Halifax, West Yorkshire you can see that any other way of using the old ones will help the environment and also my bottom line.

Recycling Tyres

There are several ways to use old ones for the garden, but this blog will be a “compost heap”.You can visit any Auto center near your location, and they will only be too willing to sort you out with the same size tyres that you will need to stack up for a compost heap.

Recycling Tyres

Recycling an old tyre for a bath for the kids

I experimented with a couple of sizes, my garden is quiet large, so I used a size 225/45/17, or you could go for 205/55/16, it all depends on your ability and state of health, but your dealer will only be too glad to give you the old tyres that you need. What I did then, was to lay down the first two one on the top of the other and then started filling them with your garden and house- hold waste,(excluding meat and animal waste). It is best using garden waste such as old veg leaves and other mature greenery, keep it organic.

If you live in Halifax, West Yorkshire Pellon Tyres will only is glad to sort you out with old tyres. Free of charge.

As the tyres fill up, you can just add another tyre on top and carry on to the desired height. When you have reached your limit you can cover the top to keep the rain out if you live in a wet part of your country or leave the top off, remember a compost heap built from old tyres must be kept moist to allow the composting to take place. The old tyres are made of the perfect material to retain the moisture you require for complete composting.
