INFINITY TYRES (And Beyond)- A look at one of the better Budget tyre brands

Post Updated 23rd Jan 2014

Infinity tyres becoming a top budget tyre

I have decide to write a post about an economy brand of tyre, because out of all the different makes of tyres that we sell from all over the World, then I think that INFINITY TYRES are in my opinion one of the best and most reliable of the cheap tyres, on offer in todays tyre market.

Over the many years that I have bought and sold tyres. Many of the budget brands were owned by some of the large tyre manufacturers, companies like Goodyear own the brand called Debica, which are made in the same factories as their better known brands, but recently, perhaps in the last ten years the economy tyre brands have been manufactured in the far East such as China, (including Michelin, who now make some of their tyres in China)

infinity tyres

Infinity tyres Eco Max tyre

Pellon Tyres have dealt with many different cheap tyre brands in the past but we are very happy to concentrate on the Infinity tyres brand ,these tyres are perhaps the best economy tyres that we have used in recent years.

Infinity tyres have also made a wise decision to enter the World of motor-sport, this move will help this tyre company in their research and development programmes to help them produce a better tyre for the regular tyre buyers, who want real value for money.

Although Infinity tyres are classed as an economy tyre, they are getting nearer to being in the mid-range tyre bracket , but I can assure my customers that the Infinity brand will satisfy their tyre needs at a great price.

Infinity tyres are now at bargain prices

Another positive thing about Infinity tyres is that we have not had one faulty tyres amongst the thousands that we sell. We also think that the price of these tyres can not be beat. At the moment you can buy 2x 20555v16 Infinty tyres for as little as £100 for the two, a real bargain.

or you have a Dirty Windscreen or the blades are already hanging halfway across the whole wiper arm.
Some things could only be lived with for so long. And just like everything else, Windscreen wiper blades also do wear down and completely stop performing, leaving a striped Dirty Windscreen . You may not need your Windscreen wipers everyday however it is still important that you do make sure that they are in good condition so that when you need them, they would serve your purposes perfectly.

Imagine if you would be driving during a torrential rain or through a foggy day or through a snowy afternoon with Windscreen wipers whose wiper blades have already broken and split down or are already hanging halfway across the whole wiper arm, with a Dirty Windscreen. Sure enough, your chances of having an accident would be much greater than if you had good wiper blades fitted.

new wiper blades to clear your Dirty Windscreen

When replacing your old wipers you should  purchase a complete set of quality Windscreen wiper blades that are according to your car’s specifics we recommend Unipart wipers or Bosch wipers. If you do not know where to purchase such blades, you can try looking through the Internet for stores or look out for your local Unipart Car Care Centre(UCCC).

Most people have a hard time figuring out how to put in new Windscreen wiper blades, but they could be fitted in minutes by experts ,if you do need to fit them yourself then the whole package of Windscreen wipers come with an instruction manual in a couple of languages along with a whole set of instructions. However, car experts inform owners like you that the whole process is really an easy one as long as you are mechanically minded and are able to get familiar with the whole Windscreen wiper contraption.

fitting your own windscreen wiper blades

Pull the wiper arm and make sure that it is not resting on your car’s Windscreen anymore. Then, you can start removing the old wiper blades from the arm. Some Windscreen wipers need you to simply push on a tab and pull the blade off. However, there are some wipers that ask you to lift a tab with a small screwdriver to take the blade loose. It can be complicated and messy, but worth it to clear your Dirty Windscreen.

When you have removed the old wiper blades, you can now put in the new blade on the arm. Make sure that you put it in correctly. You would know because the blade is already secure on the arm. If not, you would notice that it is likely that it would fly off once you are cruising down the streets. If you are satisfied that the blade has been successfully replaced, you can now put the Windscreen wiper arm back to its old position.
It is far safer and easier to call in at your nearest UCCC and have the wiper fitted by experts.

Noisy Car Brakes-Nice Red Citroen DS3 Pulls in with a Grinding Brakes Problem?

Post Updated 6th Jan 2014

I was surprised to see this nice red car with Noisy Car Brakes   .

Been the owner of a busy garage has many” ups and downs”. One of the more nicer and pleasant aspects of the job is to see the the number of different cars and car models that would appear in any given week.

This past week has seen cars as diverse as a Rolls Royce Wraith ( which was one of only 220 cars produced) to a Wolsey Hornet Mini from the late sixties, not counting the everyday cars such as Ford Fiestas and VW Golfs.Noisy Car Brakes Early on in the week we had a car made by Citroen, the DS3 call in to us with Noisy Car Brakes. The was in my favorite  colour a very bright red, ( I love red cars). We put the citroen car with the Noisy Car Brakes on a ramp and removed all the wheels to check the Noisy Car Brakes, and sure enough the front pads were worn down to the metal and the friction from having “metal to metal” had also damaged the front discs. The rear brakes were cleaned and checked and were good for further use.

We contacted the customer and was given the go ahead to replace the brakes

Because we are a Unipart Car Care Centre (UCCC) we fitted Unipart Car Brakes , this meant that the customer was getting good quality brakes with a nation wide guarantee. The Noisy Car Brakes job was completed and the customer went on his way, but I took a couple of pictures because I am a great fan of the Citroen DS3.The colours are very bright and modern looking with a choice of 11 colours and four different roof colours, you can even have colour coded alloy wheels and also different carpet designs. There is also a sports version known as the D-Sport which comes with Blue-tooth and climate control. The car also include 17 inch alloy wheels, the one I looked at came with Yokohama tyres and looked great. They also come out with additional body modifications and really look very stylish.

Noisy Car Brakes

Noisy Car Brakes DS3 brakes” new and old disks”

This car in my opinion is a great tribute to the New Citroen DS3 designers, who had to compete with the BMW Mini and the great little Fiat 500.

More reading…

The DS3 is the first in a range of very different Citroen models that put the emphasis on style and personality, along with strong performance and driver appeal. With its stylish look and compact size, it’s easy to see why so many comparisons have been drawn with the popular MINI and Fiat 500. msn cars

And also..

“The engine combines strong low-rev performance – 110bhp at 3600rpm and 199lb ft at 2000rpm, enough for a sub-10.0sec 0-60mph time – with a claimed 62.8mpg (combined cycle) and 118g/km of CO2 emissions, which sees annual road tax costing just £20…”EVO

Tyresafe Campaign about part worn tyres; are just not worth the money ?

eric roberts‘s insight:

Pellon tyres are a member of Tyresafe and are concerned about part worn tyres

For all tyre safety matters this is the web-site to look at . So inwardly digest what they are saying.

Before buying Part worn tyres you must look at what they have to say?. To prove a point, the Tyresafe Campaign . By buying sample part worn tyre products from all over the country. Thus, working out the real worth of part worn tyres . Hence,  the facts are startling. As a result, you should not be buying these tyres. Unfortunately, not only could they be dangerous . But” pound for pound” they are not worth the money . Consequently, that you will pay out for them .

What constitutes a part worn tyre to be sold legally?

Many local council trading standards officers . Are pursuing part worn tyre outlets . Frequently, prosecuting the ones that are breaking the law. Not least Warwickshire County Council. Part worn tyres must be checked for cuts, bulges, exposed tyre cords . So, should have no foreign bodies embedded in them . Such as nails and screws. For this reason, they should be clearly marked as part worn tyres. Including, with a minimum tread depth of 2 mm all round. Before they can be sold.

Trading standards officers often pretend to be genuine customers and go round buying part worn tyres, to be tested. Janet Faulkner, Head of Warwickshire Trading Standards Service said:

Tyresafe Partworn Campaign

“Whilst all the tyres we purchased passed the tread depth test, only one was stamped as ‘part-worn’ and two failed because of tread separation or slow pressure loss, neither of which would be obvious to a consumer straight away. Our advice is that it’s always safest to buy brand new tyres, but if you are buying part-worn, make sure the tyre has been tested, check the tread depth, look out for lumps and bumps and keep an eye on the tyre pressure”

For this reason, we have had many of our own customers . Who have paid up to half the price of a cheap new tyre . Than for a part worn. Thus, only to find out that the tyre has only lasted them for a couple of weeks. Complete false economy? This The Tyresafe Campaign is most welcome?

Quality Car batteries- And other top tips for driving your CAR in the wet winter conditions

Quality Car batteries; driving the car in winter conditions

One of the most obvious but important parts of winter driving is to prepare  for the bad weather that will be certain to affect us.

Every winter we are bombarded by bad weather, and most of us will get caught out and unprepared for the journey back home from shopping or from work. This happens time and time again to many motorists who get caught out in heavy rain and flooding similar to the weather this week, or a really fast and heavy snow storm. I f you check your car out you will eliminate most of the worry of bad road conditions, and feel safer and glad that you were prepared.Qaulity Car batteries

  • It always pays to have your car checked at a Unipart Car Care Centre for a pre winter check. This takes the form of checking your levels for antifreeze to make sure that it is the correct strength to withstand freezing temperatures, also your screen wash and oil levels must be checked. The early dark nights also call for your lights checking, how many times do you see a car with only one head on, that looks like a motorbike from a distance ?.
  • The most important things to check are your tyres. I know that I harp on about it, but please buy a set of winter tyres, this alone will help you on wet and snow covered winter roads and give you much more confidence when traveling out to work or to the shops. Many more drivers are now switching to winter tyres and are spreading the news to their relations and friends, they really do make a massive difference when driving on roads in winter time.

Check the depth of the water before going through in your car

Other advice now relates to flooding. Flooding has now become a common scene here in the UK. When you approach a flood please take care not take your vehicle  in too deep. Try to avoid the flooded road if possible and if you must go across the water make sure you stop and check your brakes on the other side, a minor point is that water could damage your exhaust pipes and catalytic converter a few weeks later. Another part of the car that is neglected in winter is your car battery. You can easily be caught stranded away from home if your battery lets you down. If your vehicle is over 5 years old it may be better for you to change the battery for a new one before your old battery lets you down. Remember it always happens when you are away from home and will cost you less to replace it , than expensive breakdown charges. if you do have to buy a new battery do make sure that you chose Quality Car batteries. They often come with a better warranty and will last longer

Post Updated 29th Dec 2013

Your car needs to undergo a regular check up to avoid future repairs. With the correct car servicing and maintenance, your car will last for several years longer.

Unipart Car Servicing

Unipart Car Servicing; Unipart is famous over the years for sponsoring motor sports events including this Triumph Dolomite Sprint rally car

When buying a brand new car, most car companies have car servicing special offers included with the car warranty. This is not always a good idea, you can take your car to the garage that you trust for Unipart Car Servicing without it affecting your warranty. But you need to follow the car servicing maintenance schedule according to the service book, if this is not kept up to date your warranty will become void. You should not take for granted the care of your car. Us humans need a regular check up to the doctors while cars need regular servicing and check-ups from Unipart Car Servicing.

Unless you really cannot afford to pay for car servicing never do the car maintenance by yourself unless it is a minor maintenance and you have had some experience with cars. Some car servicing things to check regularly.

• Regular Car Service – It is important that you follow the car service manual according to the exact mileage or time period. Try not to miss a service.
