VARTA BLACK dynamic c14 Car Batteries with entry levels of electrical equipment may need less battery power, but they still demand superior starting, consistent performance and absolute reliability. And that’s exactly what you get with …

eric roberts‘s insight:

Varta batteries have always been outstanding quality .

We at batteriesontheweb.co.uk are VARTA BLACK stockists for the West Yorkshire area of the UK, and can offer a full range of car and motorcycle batteries to fit most cars, here in the UK.

VARTA BLACK batteries as we all probably know by now, are owned by the world’s largest battery company Johnson Controls. Johnsons have always maintained that the Varta brand is their premier brand and so it came as no surprise when they announced that the new generation of Start-Stop batteries will be made as the top brand.

It is expected that by 2018 the majority of new vehicles will be using Star-Stop technology and so Johnson Controls have devised a dealer service programme to train the technicians at the fitting depots how to use their newly developed hand held electrical equipment to tell the on-board computer that they are fitting a new battery. The new style AGM batteries are part of the total computer system of the all-electric cars that are also charged by the braking system of the cars. The cars that are fitted with the Start-Stop battery system, but run with a conventional petrol/diesel engine can have the battery changed in much the normal way as fitting a  standard 12volt Car Battery.

The Varta batteries will be built in the companies Factory in Zwickau, Germany in a new million Euro plant that is the world’s largest producers of AGM batteries. The AGM batteries, (Absorbed Glass Matting) are a much more powerful battery, and will stand larger surges in deeper cycles and so are more suitable for constant Stop-Starting. The new extension to the factory is expected to produce 6.5 million batteries a year and this will double the number of employees at the factory.

Renault French automaker can cut off your battery if you don’t pay

Renault

Renault,battery

Post updated  22/3/2014 Eric Roberts

Last year Tesla dealt with its first real scandal, the so-called “bricking” of batteries that are allowed to run entirely out of charge. But what about a car company (Renault)that could brick a car’s battery on purpose?

eric roberts‘s insight:

Cutting off your car battery

This is known as “bricking” and stems from Renault keeping an eye on their customers who do not make a payment. This is allegedly in the small print under the French car companies “rented battery” agreement.

Renault battery

Renault servicing in Halifax Yorkshire UK

Also in the service agreement. It is alleged that Renault has the right to halt the possible charging of the battery. When the rental contract comes to an end. Apparently, this also includes the same penalties if you fail to make a payment. Thus, on your car agreement, making the car impossible to drive

I wonder what would happen. In the case of say a mess up with paperwork.Accordingly, if the payments from the bank may go wrong. Therefore, would Renault then cut off your battery supply. What a mess that would be to sort out. Hence, we all know that these large banks and credit companies do make mistakes. Naturally, you could be stranded anywhere and it would not be your fault?. The mind boggles.

A Recharging EV Batteries Industry Rises
New York Times
Such public charging has an advantage over the 240-volt charger that a car owner can install in a garage or car port, said Michael D.

eric roberts‘s insight:

Recharging EV Batteries but EV batteries may not be here to stay?

It seems that Americans are throwing billions of dollars in the production of electric car, now they are expanding the car battery

charger market. In the article by the New York Times it explains the way that the USA is going towards in this direction.

I live in the North of the UK at it appears that we are miles behind in the establishment of Battery charging stations in our towns and cities. There is a website that shows EV drivers where their electric cars can be charged up, but to date I have only seen the Battery Charging Stations in the Cheshire city of Chester, where there are three of them in one spot, a local hotel.Recharging EV Batteries

We do have companies that manufacture charging stations; one of them is Schneider Electric’s EV Link fast charge stations…http://www.schneider-electric.co.uk/sites/uk/en/products-services/electrical-distribution/products-offer/ev-link-charging-solutions/electric-vehicle-fast-charging-infrastructures/ev-link-fast-charger.page   that can charge 80% of the Car Batteries in less than 30 minutes. These Recharging EV Batteries stations can be bought for home use or for use by businesses and the Electric Vehicles owners will be able to easily and safely charge their vehicles, without any risk of exceeding their supply contract and in the most environmental friendly manner.

The UK also has web site that shows electric car owners where to find the car  batteries charging points to recharge their cars batteries

the web site is http://www.nextgreencar.com/electric-cars/charging-points.php it also tells you other valuable information, such as the number of fast charging sites, it now states that we have 3035 fast charging sites in the UK, alright if you are near one?

The big problem here in the UK is that the public have not taken the electric car to their heart, they do not seem interested. According to the figures only just over 1000 cars were sold in the UK in year ending in October 2011 and figures for up to October 2012 were even worse at 950 cars, these figures are measly

are many new technologies that will be coming onto the market in the next few years that will not run solely on batteries , but use other mechanical methods to lower the emissions, the new technology that is coming out of Peugeot looks a good alternative and Toyota are looking into Nitrogen powered engines, so it will be very interesting to say the least.

Car Battery-Which choices-Your Guide to the Car Battery

Get valuable, relevant advice from the UK’s leading driver-focused road safety organisation (Your Car battery can die at any time of year but more likely when the cold temp hits the battery.

Your car battery

Like so many products these days, car batteries are better made than ever.  I am of coarse talking about the 12 Volt Battery that at the moment fit most of cars that are on our roads. The lead acid battery has been with us for many years now and has now developed into a reliable part of your cars electrical system.

Over the years we have noticed that the batteries fitted to Japanese cars seem to last the longest from new, usually about seven years before replacing. The batteries on car batteryFords and Vauxhall cars only last about three years before a replacement is required. I do not really know why this, I guess it must be something to do with the rest of the cars electrical system. The batteries that the cars are fitted with original equipment are usually of good quality. We know this because we can buy the same products from the battery manufacturer with different make labels.

For instance Johnson Controls, one of the World’s biggest  makers of the New Car Battery (if not the biggest) make batteries for the car manufacturers and for the replacement battery market, so unless they are told to make the batteries to a lower standard, the products should be the same quality. We buy batteries that are made by Yuasa, In 2004, Yuasa Japan merged with Japan Storage Battery to form GS Yuasa Corporation.

When we replace a Discount Car Battery from a car that has been made in the Far East almost every battery that we replace is either a “GS” battery or a “GLOBAL” battery and these batteries appear to last longer than their European counterparts, or is it the Far Eastern car makers that make their cars electrical systems better?. It please me though because the Tungstone batteries that we sell on Batteries OnThe Web.co.uk  are made by Global batteries and also Fiamm Car Batteries in Italy.

Hybrid Car That Runs on Air-New Peugeot Invention Better Than Batteries?:

Hybrid Car

New Peugeot Invention Better Than Batteries: A Hybrid Car That Runs on Air This new development from Peugeot-Citroen is yet another big development to compete… (RT @AutoSocial: JB Floyd liked JB Floyd’s blog post New Peugeot Invention Better Than …

Eric Roberts says…

The new cars should be fitted with normal batteries

Peugeot Citroen has had scientists and engineers. Therefore, locked away for the past two or three years. Because, they have come up with a car that is unique. Consequently, and will form the backbone of Hybrid Car the cars of the future. Hence, without the use of Lithium-ion batteries. The new concept will be called the “Hybrid Air”. For this reason, the car will have a new Petrol and air hybrid drive-train. Thus, combined with a new modular platform. Furthermore, a completely new concept in car engineering. Specifically, a competitor for battery driven hybrid cars. That we see coming out of Japan and the USA.

The new Hybrid Car will have petrol engine. Hence, to drive in normal condition out of town driving. But when the car is driving in towns and cities. Thus, at below 43mph. For this reason, a hydraulic pump operated by compressed air takes over the petrol engine. Moreover, powers the car along with zero emissions. Plus and will be started by  conventional Car Batteries. Moreover, this Hybrid Car will also have an automatic gearbox. In addition, the transmission, pump and motor will be in the engine bay. Subsequently, with the compressed air tank running between the front seats. Simultaneously, the compressed air is used to drive the hydraulic motor. Which transfers the power to the front wheels. Therefore driving the Hybrid Car along.

Hybrid Car

Having been a garage owner for all my life.  I hope that they have thought of the problems that compressed air can have. Hence, people who work in the motor trade. Know too well about leaking pipes and the build-up of water. So that can cause problems later in the cars life say when the car is two or three years old, but then again I can remember when hydraulic oil pipes were first introduced and the older mechanics said they would never catch on, and we all know the rest.

The new Hybrid Car is expected to be shown in 2016. Hence, and will used on the Peugeot 208 or the Citroen C3 models. The new Hybrid Car will be expected to return fuel figures of over 95 mpg with very low emissions of 68g per kilometer.

ELECTRIC CAR Battery Plug in Stations in Chester UK

ELECTRIC CAR Battery Plug in Stations in Chester UK

In the last few days I visited the beautiful city of Chester in Cheshire, North West England. Chester is very close to the Welsh border and is steeped in history. Of course, the city was once a Roman settlement. So, still boasts a near complete Roman wall. Encircling the city centre. Including, its many shops and hotels. Attracting millions of visitors a year.

My daughter Brooke collecting her graduation gown from the University campus in Chester.

My wife and I were in Chester to see our daughter receive her Honours degree. Naturally, from the University of Chester. The ceremony was held at the cities cathedral. Attended by many dignitaries and important university personnel. Subsequently, the service took some two hours. But was well worth it see our daughter Brooke receive her degree in French studies. Indeed, we were very proud parents indeed Celebrating with a nice meal and a few drinks. Before heading back to the hotel for a few more night caps.

The Hotel was the Mill Hotel and Spa complex Hotel just off the centre of Chester and very nice it was too. On arriving I could not help noticing that there was a few very large life size replicas of rhinos, painted in very bright psychedelically painted situated around the hotel car park. Looking more closely I noticed that they all had a sign attached to them. To my amazement the rhinos were in fact “electric car charging points”.

ELECTRIC CAR Battery- charging is free to residents of the hotel.

These were some of the first that I had ever seen in the North of England. The Hotel had them installed care of a company called”Zerocarbonworld.org and are fitted free of charge through government grants and special funding. I have always been interested in the electric car and other inventions that are at the moment flooding the car market place, so I could not wait to turn this find into a blog.

When we checked out I asked the guy at the reception how much they charged to top the battery up on an electric car and to my surprise he said that there was no charge for the service indeed the service was free. But as a business man I know that the electricity used would have been a business cost and used to calculate the cost of a room, so therefor we would have been paying for the cost of charging up an electric car battery in the price of a room. The reception guy then told me that they had only ever had two electric cars to have their batteries charged.

In the end we all had a great three days and I found an interesting subject to blog about.

Cheap Car batteries-A Place Where You Can Get A Good Deal On Your Car Batteries

Looking for cheap batteries for your car? Here are some excellent tips to keep in mind to find cheap car batteries.

eric roberts‘s insight:

Cheap Car batteries and Quality

Most motorists are looking for  cheap car batteries at the moment, but you can get quality car batteries at a cheap price. The main thing to start with is the reliability of the company and can you trust them if you have a problem. Also to keep your side of the bargain are you honest about the correct use of the battery. One guy recently bought a battery to use on a go-kart and did not charge it in between races then complained that the battery was faulty; we get many similar cases like this. So if you are buying a battery for your car fair enough, but if you are using it for other reasons, you will have void the warranty, because we have no way of knowing that the battery was correctly charged, as a good working car would do.

the driving force behind start-stop. – VARTA Automotive

Going back to where I was, cheap car batteries are not always the best option. If you are selling the car then it would be a good idea to fit the cheap car battery, but if you are intending to keep your car then you should look for the best name that you can afford. You would be surprised at the variation of battery makes that are out there in the market place, the choice that we have is fantastic, so make the right choice for your car.

Another point to consider is the choice of Car Batteries for the later models that are full of electrics. If you own this type of car then it is important that you stick to the same powered battery that was fitted as original equipment. Do not skimp for a less powerful battery. Even the newer Peugeots can now come with electric doors and stop-start technology, so be smart and choose a well-known make such as Lucas car batteries or Varta batteries, both made in

Cheap Car batteries

Fitting a new Lucas car battery after the original failed to start and would not jump off, cheap car batteries are not always the answer

Europe by Johnson Controls the World’s largest battery manufacturers, supplying a top class product and all the time creating better battery products for today’s greener car technology. You could also go for Tungstone batteries made by Global batteries.  As I have said previously the cheapest is not always the best and go with an established company where you know that any future problems will be solved.

Hybrid Car-That Runs on Air-Pressure and Not Batteries

Peugeot’s new technology will get you 117 miles per gallon. (Better Than Batteries: A Hybrid Car That Runs on Air http://t.co/3wz2KXjhlo)

eric roberts‘s insight:

New technology to compete with the big batteries Hybridshybrid car, peugoet batteries

This new development from Peugeot-Citroen is yet another big development to compete with the massive batteries and price tag of the earlier hybrid car. The beauty about this car is that the engine is almost a standard type engine that uses petrol (gasoline) and will be started by a standard Battery System along with uprated gearbox and special hydraulics. This is great news for us independent garage owners as it will give us a chance to repair these cars when they arrive in the aftermarket a few years down the line, a thing that I don’t believe will happen with the huge Lithium-Ion battery driven cars, that are to be leased to their owners.

The new hybrid car will be driven by the conventional engine when traveling any distance, but will reverts to the “Air power” when driving in cities and towns, when the air system will be activated when the car does less than 43 mph. It is also expected that the car will be capable of producing an average of just less than 129 miles to the gallon with upgrades towards 2020. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2266632/Car-runs-air-coming-soon-Peugeot-Citroen-unveil-new-117mpg-

The first hybrid car using this technology is expected to on the smaller Peugeot 206 ; although I don’t think that a decision has yet been made. The price of these new cars is going to be about £1000.00 cheaper than today’s battery powered hybrids. The hybrid car has been a closely guarded secret and has been under development for almost three years now at a research centre not far from the south of Paris. The car is expected to be a great success and will help the giant French car company to retain its place in the technology driven hybrid car market. The car will also use  standard batteries and will look no different to the standard models that we see today, as I said previously this will be a car that we can all service in the future which is good news for the independent garages out there.

To bring this article further forward, Peugeot , the French automaker revealed its Hybrid Air technology will be further revealed later this year at the Paris Motor Show. The vehicle that the new technology will be demonstrated on will be the Peugoet 208 hybrid car and not the Peugeot 206 that i stated earlier. This version of the Hybrid Air design will offer the car makers a fuel economy distance of 117 miles per gallon, which is an improvement on the figures that they announced last year. I believe that this technology could be a winner and will not involve the suspect lithium-Ion batteries, that other car makers are relying on.

Winter driving tips

CarBuyer

Car Battery Care can last for more than around five years, so if your car is approaching that sort of age and is still using its original battery, it’s worth getting it checked over.

eric roberts‘s insight:

Car Battery Care

A Battery is something just stuck under the bonnet

To most car drivers the cars battery is just something that is stuck under the bonnet (hood). So, the only time they will know that it exists is when the car will not start and it is

Car Battery Care

Testing this cars battery is all part of Car Battery Care

usually in the middle of nowhere. Of course, or when you are driving to that important meeting on a cold winters day.Hence, your battery Care, is the last thing on most drivers minds ? .

The days are getting much shorter now and the nights colder. Hence, you will also be using more of the cars electrics in winter. Especially the heaters, wipers, and lights.  In fact you will be using everything electrical. Thus putting your cars battery under immense pressure. Also you should be using the cars air-conditioning system to clear and de-mist another power

sucking piece of equipment that will drain the cars battery. Also, not forgetting to de-ice the car before you set off on your journey.

According to the RAC here in the UK, lack of Car Battery Care is the biggest cause of car breakdowns and the problem starts to get worst at this time of year.

Most of the Cheap Car Batteries are only guaranteed for two years, but the batteries fitted to new cars will last on average for about five years.

Car Battery Care

So if your car is five years old or over, be prepared to have to change the battery, before it lets you down.

There are many Causes of a Flat Battery. You can have a free battery check if you are having Car Battery Problems at most garages, but if you need a garage that you can trust ,then look online for your nearest Unipart Car Care Centre, they have a network of garages that can be trusted on price and service.

Also if you do have your car serviced at regular intervals then Car Battery Care will be carried out by your garage. They will clean and test your battery in with the service.

Van Battery Care-Your Car is at Risk! – Reasons for your Car Battery to Fail?

Van Battery Care

Corroded battery terminals require cleaning

Frequent battery failure can cost you thousands of dollars for repairs. You can avoid Van Battery Care problems by following regular maintenance. To reduce chances of  van battery failures, it’s critical to understand its causes.

eric roberts‘s insight:

Give your car battery a winter check

As we all know winter is just around the corner here in the Northern hemisphere. The weather is turning colder at night and this will affect the performance of your car battery. To keep you car battery lasting longer there are one or two things that you can do.

If your van battery has the old type screw tops, then you can inspect the level of the acid in your battery, with Van Battery Care, this can be checked and remedied. If this is something that you have to do at often intervals then it means that the battery is boiling and could have a faulty alternator. You should top the battery up with distilled water and recheck it a few days after, to see if the level has dropped again. If the level has dropped then you should get your alternator checked at a good garage.

If are reading this in the UK and you do not know of a good garage, then look up the nearest Unipart Car Care Centre(UCCC) in your area, they have safeguards to protect you the

Van Battery Care

A simple voltmeter can tell you lots about your battery

customer and a fair price policy, but more than that they can be trusted.

Also another Van Battery Care tip is to look out for white coloured powder on the top of the  battery, this indicates a leak around the terminals, the white powder is dried battery acid. You can clean it off using a cup full of warm water, but if it is a recurring problem it means that the battery is on its way out and needs replacing before it lets you down, on your deliveries. It is a good idea to always keep a Car Battery Charger and a 12V Voltmeter,to hand as it may just keep you going for a few more winter days, until you can buy Cheap Car batteries Online.

This is about the limit that you can go to check over your battery and look after it, after all has I have said the last thing you want is for the battery to let you down, when you
