Trojan batteries versus traditional batteries

AGM batteries are once again becoming more popular in the car and transport industry, because of the constant strain that on board computers and other electronics have to absorb on the modern vehicles of today.

This is most evident on the start-stop technology that we use in today’s cars. This system requires many more starting cycles that can only be handled by a start-stop AGM battery. These batteries come to us in the Varta brand, one of the companies that are owned by Johnson controls who are the world’s number one battery manufacturer.

Deep cycle AGM batteries are made with thicker plates and a stronger grid system. They are also practically dry compared to a normal free flow lead acid battery, that are fitted into the regular gasoline engine car, that are primarily used to start the car and also for the cars lighting. The plates are much thinner and perforated with small holes; this gives the battery more power up front to start the car’s engine and is known as CCA (cold cracking amps).

The AGM Batteries have much thicker plates and is virtually dry and is completely sealed. The plates are covered with glass matting that absorbs the acid, making the battery virtually dry and able to take a much larger charge and discharge. This was found to be the best option for the new start-stop technology.

There are now other makes of cars such as the Jeep models that come with an Optima AGM battery that does the same job of supplying a good CCA for starting purposes and also keeping the cars computer system and many on-board electronics fully serviced, by the fact that the battery has a deep cycle capability.

This also applies to the trucking industry. Trojan are informing truck fleet users, the benefits of fitting Trojan batteries to their trucks, replacing the normal lead acid batteries that are fitted as original equipment.

The Trojan  are one of the best quality batteries in the world and are manufactured to alloy very deep cycles, without damaging the battery. The necessity to upgrade the battery comes with the fact that these vehicles use much more power with high demand at certain times, making it necessary to fit a deep cycle battery. The drivers sleeper cab is very often fitted with cooking facilities and even a TV like a mini RV vehicle, and so requires an AGM battery such as the Trojan Deep Cycle Batteries.

Motorhome Batteries-Upgrading Your Motorhome-RV-caravan Batteries

Get the most out of camping unplugged by upgrading your Motorhome Batteries 12-volt battery to two 6-volt Trojan golf cart batteries. A TrailerLifeTV original video. For more…

eric Roberts’ insight:

Trojan 6 volt Motorhome Batteries conversion

This is a great video about converting you 12-volt single battery to two Trojan 6 volt batteries that are wired in series to produce a 12 Volt Motorhome Batteries system but with greatly increased amps. In fact, as the video says a regular Leisure Batteries are usually from 85 to the most popular one which is the110 amp leisure battery, but by joining the two 6 volt batteries inMotorhome Batteries, trojan

series the output will be a massive 240 amps.

This battery layout is an ideal situation, to enable the owner of the Motorhome Batteries to use whatever electrical items that he chooses and, believe me, this system will be really on top of the job, with a massive 240 amp storage capacity. The Trojan AGM batteries are one of the best Motorhome Batteries in the World and you would expect this system to last at least 5 or 6 years. I say this because although the initial layout would cost you more, then you would be making savings over the long run.

This system would be great for the people who go out in the wilderness or are traveling long distances, say across Europe or perhaps further, people in America will be able to stay in their own country to travel to a wilderness, but wherever you travel you can use all the electricity that you require before the batteries will need recharging. Trojan has a reputation second to none and it gave me a real thrill and great pleasure when I first became the Motorhome Batteries dealer for the Yorkshire area here in the UK.

Trojan batteries make batteries to fit hundreds of applications, including boats, both large and small, emergency traffic light signals, platform lifts, known in the UK as “cherry Pickers”, golf carts and golf buggies, floor cleaning machines so that they can clean large areas without having to plug into an electric point and more recently they produce batteries to store renewable energy from the Sun via solar panels and wind turbines.

Here’s hoping that whatever battery you fit your Motorhome Batteries or caravan gives you great service on your travels in the new year holiday season(especially if you bought your battery from me?).

Hi I would like to introduce myself. I have worked in the Garage and tyre and Battery business now for 40 years. I have worked for a couple for national tyre companies in my younger days, before starting my first business. I now own a company here in the UK called Pellon Tyre and Auto-centre, and I am a keen blogger about anything to do with cars and their related products that will help my business. We are members of Point-S and Motor-Codes and are also a Unipart Car Care Centre and of course Tyre-safe.

Trojan Batteries-are one of the Worlds finest AGM Batteries

That is a very good question, why Trojan batteries?

Well until a couple of years ago I knew nothing about Trojan batteries other than they were made in the USA and had a reputation for their good quality. I became a Trojan batteries dealer for the Yorkshire region in 2012 and I must admit I knew nothing about the product. The first thing I did was to look up their history and very soon discovered that they started out in 1925, (twenty three years before I was born).

The company was started out by a Mr George Godber an ex world war one navy veteran serving on a submarine. He formed a partnership with his brother-in-law, a Mr Carl Speer.

Car batteries were Trojan batteries first product.

Their business adventure started off in Los Angele’s and the pair kicked off by making car batteries, and after a while they developed and started to make the larger batteries that were suitable for the trucks of that time.

Their main desire though was to produce deep cycle batteries as they were more specialised and a good product for the future. The two original partners were later joined in their business by Ray and Dick Godber a second generation that were to help develop their desire for the deep cycle battery.

In the period of the early 1950s a company by the name of the Autoette made a small one cylinder petrol driven cart that was capable of doing in the region of 10mph,(they are now used extensively in a town called Avalon, where normal cars are banned and there is a speed limit of 20mph).

The first deep cycle battery was produced in conjunction with Autoette to produce a battery driven golf cart for a golfer with mobility problems, thus helping him to get round a golf course. This lead to the revolution of the golf cart that was driven by an electric motor and powered by the now familiar maroon coloured Trojan batteries golf

The famous maroon colored Trojan batteries

trolley battery,

This was the beginning of the deep cycle battery and the company went from strength to strength designing and making batteries for many other applications. The 1980s saw the company expand into a new location and battery building factory just on the outskirts of Georgia Atlanta and in 1992 they added a master stroke by building a new technology centre to enhance the future development of the Trojan battery products and helping to develop batteries for floor machine, marine applications, construction and various industrial applications.

Since then new generations of the family have dedicated their work into making Trojan batteries into the top brands for such things as Golf and Utility Vehicles, Floor Machines, Aerial Work Platforms, Commercial trucks, Marine vessels, Recreational Vehicles, Medical Mobility, Neighborhood Electric Vehicles and their latest venture into Renewable Energy systems, due to the high demand for renewable energy storage from solar panels to wind turbines.

In the following years Trojan batteries have been responsible for many new battery initiatives and subsequently won many awards from industry for their achievements. Although Trojan batteries still develop and manufacture their battery and associated products in the USA they now have international offices located in Europe, UAE and Asia.

Trojan batteries are also proud member of the Battery Council International (BCI), the Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium and a technical research partner with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Trojan applies rigorous industry battery testing procedures that adhere to BCI and International Electro-technical Commission (IEC) test standards. There is no doubting the stature and the endeavour that this company have and I am proud to be a minute part of such a great companies marketing set-up here in the UK, through our website www.batteriesontheweb.co.uk
