lithium-Ion technology is now used on many applications.Therefore, I have just been offered some 22amp golf batteries built with Lithium technology. Of course,I am not sure if they stand the test of time. Thus, regarding the fire problems that they have been only time will tell. Of course,the use of them in battery storage will be strictly controlled by temperature monitoring having on certain aircraft, i suppose devices, so i suppose that the overheating and fire problem will not exist.

To update this post, Lithium-ion batteries are now taking off and are used on a number of applications. These are from portable power drills to golf trolley and mobility vehicles. i still feel though that other technologies will be around in the near future, including our old favorite, lead acid batteries.

I would hate to think of the amount of these machines that have been caught out with a flat battery? Stuck half way on a journey and having to be rescued by a friend or relation.

Also, they have the problem of the weight of these batteries. Even the 12 volts 12 amp AGM Battery are hefty. Especially relevant, to injured or physically challenged person. The 18 amp and 26 amp are even very heavy to an able body person, so things have got to get better and for some mobility vehicle owners they just did.

This replaces two a Lucas LSLC 20-12 10- lead acid batteries. The single battery only weighs 2.4 kg compared with the pair of Lucas weighing in at 12 kg, very much lighter in weight. The battery also requires a special charger which is a 24 volt 3 amp including all the connectors. The big advantage of the new Mobility Scooter Batteries is that they will do 2000 cycles. Compared to 300 cycles for the Lucas lead acid battery, and although the initial cost is higher, you will be saving in weight and much more power in the long run.

It has always been a problem for the guys.Hence, that go out at night in the countryside looking for things to hunt. Usually vermin. This rural activity is often referred to as Lamping Rabbits. The general idea is to stalk the animal say a fox. Consequently, by using a lamp with a strong beam. So is pointed at the animal. Thus, the animal will then freeze in the bright light. The animal is then shot. For this reason, this is usually aimed at vermin. Such as foxes, rats and in some areas rabbits. Hence, that may have a population problem and the numbers need to be culled. The lamp that they use is usually powered by a 7amp UPS battery, the type that is used in backup power systems, but these small lamping batteries are lead acid batteries and therefore start to become very heavy, especially in the dark when you are walking through undergrowth and in hilly woodland. Some lampers also carry a spare battery or two, so they tend to get very heavy.

One of the great things to come to the market in recent times.Is the invention of the Lithium Ion Battery Pack. This was originally invented in America. For use on American military planes. This created a brand new battery technology that did not contain lead or lead acid. The new batteries became much lighter and more powerful, making the situation perfect for use as lamp batteries.

These lamping batteries come in two sizes the 6 ah and the 9ah these batteries are 12 volt batteries and the 9 amp lithium replaces the 18 amp UPS lead acid battery and the 6 amp replaces the 10 amp UPS lead acid battery. These batteries are much more powerful than there lead acid counterpart and are much lighter to carry around. The battery charger is also supplied and must be used with the lithium lamping batteries normal lead acid charger will not work with the lithium battery. The downside will be the initial cost , but the lithium battery comes with a two year manufacturers warranty and is more powerful and will last much longer with an added bonus of been very much lighter to carry, in my opinion the lead acid UPS battery will not have a look in compared with the new battery the lithium battery
