Bald Tyre Problems; illegal tyres causing more crashes

For my sins. I decided to join an online social business site called Linkedin. Of course, I am now glad that I did. Hence, we get some good feedback from the groups that I am in. One group that I joined

Bald Tyre Problem

Bald Tyre Problem; This bald tyre was on a TAXI?

is a tyre-related group. Therefore, I get some interesting things relating to the Bald Tyre Problems. Thus, that are involved in auto accidents. This guy is in America. naturally, the same things relate to us here in the UK.

He says that many of the accidents. Therefore, he has brought in for investigation are tyre related. We often see crashes on our Motorways. Consequently, never get to see what has caused them. In his case.He sees the cars when he tows them to his garage. So for the police and investigators to check the cars out. He can see that the cars have clear  defects that were more than likely the cause of the crash.

Many accidents are caused by illegal tyres, when-when they are  getting near to the end of their  life, it will pick up more sharp objects as they would with a decent amount of tread on, most wheels that come to us for punctures are almost bald, there is no resistance to objects when the  tread is so low. Continental tyres have started to stop their sipes (that is small slits in the tread that dissipate the water) at 3 mm that’s double the legal limit here in the UK. This has meant that to be completely safe you should replace Continentals and other similar top brands at 3mm to be safe.

 Bald Tyre Problems

One of the main reasons that motorists are taking more risks with their tyres and road safety is because of the recession, people are avoiding buying new tyres and risking their lives

tyres

Tyres like these that were just removed from a Mercedes SUV can end up in the second-hand tyre market, we damage the sidewalls to stop this happening.

(and others)

There has been a record amount of convictions for tyre-related incidents (illegal tyres), with over 10,000 convictions in 2010 (I do not have the 2011 figures yet). But they will probably worse.

Many tyres are failed in MOT tests but tyres on the MOT test are a “grey area” and many testers are put on an “advisory”. This means that the customer is just warned that he needs to change some tyres, but they never seem to get changed until months later.

Illegal tyres carry a maximum fine of £2500 and 3 penalty points for each one

The UK tyre law states that. A car driven on the road. Must have a minimum tread depth of 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre.Hence, around its entire circumference. Surely even purchasing cheap tyres. It would be better than driving on illegal tyres. Hence, and facing such a large fine?

Your tyres also need to be checked for damage. Splits, cuts or cracks in the side wall can be very dangerous and cause serious problems. Blow-outs can be caused be any of these, however, the most common reason for a tyre to blow is the lack of the correct tyre pressure. When a tyre is underinflated it will bounce along the road, especially when the vehicle is travelling at speed or overloaded. Low pressure causes the tyre become overheated especially at high speed say on a motorway. Hence, when the tyre reaches a high temperature it may explode. In rare circumstances. Then it could even burst into flames. So the moral of all this is to have your tyres checked at regular intervals and don’t leave it too late.
