New batteries-Solar Energy Storage

New batteries to change solar energy storage

The Strategic Sourceror (blog)
While electricity sourcing from storage technologies for renewable energy is only emerging, it could soon become mainstream.

New Types of  Batteries  for Solar Storage” Not Far Away”

Although we have been trying out new systems for storing the energy produced by the Sun there does not seem to be any major developments coming from the big energy players. Millions of individuals have been trying different methods out using all types of devices and different types of batteries

The most successful battery at the moment appears to be the AGM battery (Absorbed Glass Matting). This type of New

batteries will dis-charge to much lower levels, than a normal New batterieswet lead acid battery, the type that is used in cars and trucks. But as we all strive to make renewable energy other methods have started to come to life. By the way one of the best AGM storage batteries on the market are made by Trojan batteries . They are a little more expensive than other makes but they are a heavy duty quality product and well worth looking at if you are interested in building a small bank of solar storage batteries.

A new kid on the block will shortly be the development of the Lithium-Ion solar storage unit. The idea has come from the development of the use of New batteries called Lithium-Ion batteries in the electric cars. These storage units will be tailor made as a thing that consumers can just buy and plug in to a solar panel system or a wind turbine. The idea comes from the car maker Tesla, who may work together with Bosch batteries to produce this product.

In my opinion this will open the gates for more companies to come up with more products and will be of great advantage to home owners and businesses alike.

New batteries,Solar Storage Batteries

How a solar system works using Solar Storage New batteries

A typical home owner with solar panels

Of course, could store the electricity when the cost is at the lowest and then use the electricity stored in the home or business when the rates are at their highest, by using New batteries . I actually have a bank of solar panels on my roof here in the UK.

Of course and they work really well.  So, even now in November we still produce electricity on a sunny day. My solar system goes into the national grid. Naturally, the electric produced is bought from us by the electricity provider. Conveniently, if such storage system came onto the market. Such as a custom  custom made one. Then I would think about changing things around.

I have sold New batteries all my working life, but I must confess that these are the most exciting times for change and different battery technologies and inventiveness coming from our Universities and colleges.

Update- Since I wrote this post then things have moved on t a pace. Introductions to the solar market now include ready made battery storage packages for home owners and business alike.

Hyundai EGR Coolant Pipe Problem-Also a central Locking Problem an the same car.

Hyundai EGR Coolant Pipe Problem

Hyundai EGR Coolant Pipe Problem

Hyundai EGR Coolant Pipe Problem

Hi about a month ago we were left with a Hyundai i10. Consequently, the guy had a couple of problems with the car. Subsequently, the main problem was that he had an intermittent water leak. The guy thought it was from the engines radiator, but was not sure.

On his arrival he said that he had another problem. Hence, his central locking remote did not work. Of course, we sort of knew that the two were not linked. Consequently, we gave the keys to one of our courtesy cars and off he went to work.

As most people in the garage trade know. So, we have friends in other garages who are specialists in one brand of car. Because, we were not sure about the Hyundai’s lock problem, then we gave him a call. Jeff is his name from a local garage in Sowerby Bridge, a small town near Halifax, Yorkshire UK.

Jeff, worked with an apprentice and one of his specialties is of course, Hyundai cars. Of course Jeff is always eager to help and pass on anything he can to help. Here in Yorkshire, we like to feel that we are friendly people and help each other out. Especially, with specialist tools or technical information.

Hyundai EGR Coolant Pipe Problem-Also a lock problem

First thing he advised us was to change the battery. Accordingly, we fitted a Lucas 005L battery to the i10 as this was the correct replacement battery. Unfortunately, this did not cure the problem. Our Hyundai expert Jeff, then went on to explain that this was a common problem. Of course, he said that the remote just needed re-programming.

Because we did not have the Hyundai equipment, then we drove the car to Jeff’s garage. He kindly reprogrammed the remote and checked for other codes that may have caused the problem in the first place. Of course, he knew that he would need a favour from us and so did not charge us for the job.

However when the car was moved we did notice a wet patch. Hence from underneath the engine compartment. On close examination we spotted a fluid leak coming from a hose. Tracing the hose back we discovered that it was the EGR valve coolant hose that was leaking. Believe me it is a great relief when things go right.

As a result, we can spend hours diagnosing a fault or trying to find an oil or water leak. Fortunately this was something that the Hyundai main dealer kept in stock. Because it was a next day delivery, then we had to keep the car until the following day. The part arrived and was fitted Dale Linton. One of our mechanics. The customer collected his car and was a happy man. Consequently, we did not charge him for his failing lock problem he just paid for the new battery and the EGR valve coolant hose fitting.

example in the picture, but they are usually smaller than this. The next thing is to check the tread depth, the legal limit in the UK is 1.6 mm across ¾ of the tread from the centre outwards, but to be truthful the safest tread depth to use will be 3 mm, this is because some companies allow the grooves and sipes, (which are the tiny slits in a tyre, that help it to dissipate the water) to run out at 3 mm, making the tyre virtually bald but still legal in the eyes of the law.

The next thing is to make sure that your tyres have the correct pressure in them.

Tyres with the wrong pressure will de-stabilise the handling of your car, I am sure that we have all experienced this sometimes in our driving life, a car with a tyre say half flat will give the car a drifting feeling especially say on a motorway at speed. Also the correct  pressures will give your car the best fuel efficiency if they are inflated correctly.

Tyre maintenance

Lack of tyre maintenance is increasing road risk for young drivers FleetNews Young drivers are at a greater risk of being involved in a tyre related accident through a lack of regular tyre maintenance, according to a new survey commissioned by…

Tyre maintenance neglected by the younger drivers

Of course, there is no doubt that the younger drivers are not concerned about their tyre maintenance responsibilities. Therefore, it is a very rare sight in my tyre depot to see younger drivers buying many new tyres. Subsequently, I can’t speak for the second hand tyre market. Because,we are not part of it. But I suspect that this is the part of the tyre sector that younger drivers may buy their tyres.

It also seems to be the young men who are the main culprits, the young ladies do buy tyres and have their cars serviced more often, but the sector

that covers younger drivers do not appear to buy tyres from the standard type of tyre retailer or online.

We fit tyres from online tyre retailers such as ASDA Tyres, and they too do not attract the Young Driver Experience, it would be interesting what sort of opinion other tyre retailers may have on this subject? Are they finding the same or is it just me in Halifax that fails to attract the younger drivers, please let me know. We see less and less young drivers now buying tyre in our depot in Halifax.

We believe that they are buying more and more part worn tyres and not thinking about the consequences to themselves and their cars, let alone other drivers on the road.

I know that tyres and Tyre maintenance is probably the last thing on young drivers minds, but it us to us all in the auto trade make them aware of the underlying dangers that making the correct choice when buying tyres. There is something happening to make the younger driver want to risk their life. As a result, perhaps they just don’t care about their own safety. Hence, by using Poor tyres and the other road users. We all know the massive cost of insurance policies for young drivers. Subsequently, a young guy who works for me in our tyre department is having to spend £3000 to insure a small Vauxhall Corsa, but young drivers should weight all these things up before they decide to buy a car and take to the road.

The other alternative, “which in my opinion is just as bad “is that perhaps they are buying Poor tyres part worn tyres, or their parents are forever bailing them out. I think the later will be the case, but we still don’t see many young men calling into us to buy new tyres, perhaps you know better ?

There’s a common misconception that an all-wheel drive car is all one needs to be safe when driving in winter.

Eric Roberts says

SUV owners should be looking for winter tyres

It is a huge misconception that the owners of SUV vehicles are safe when driving in the winter time. These large vehicles are normally fitted with some kind of sport

snow tyres

summer tyres and because they have big wheels and wide tyres, the owners think that they can go any ware in different driving conditions.

I remember a few years ago when we had our worse snow for a few years. The phone was red hot with SUV drivers trying to get some winter tyres. As luck would have it we deal with a German tyre company and were able to pick up some stock, but there was certain sizes that were completely unavailable.

What the public don’t realise is that the tyre manufacturers make winter tyres in summer and most of them are sent to the countries that have to have snow tyres fitted by law. These include Germany, Switzerland, Austria and a few more that slip my mind. We and the rest of Europe have to take

Things are now getting better with the importing of many snow tyres coming from the Far East. Yokohama from Japan are also an excellent winter tyre and are available in many sizes including tyres for the SUV vehicles. We also recommend General winter tyres but they only make the tyres for the average saloon car.

So the moral of this article is to get yourself some snow tyres for your SUV before they start to run after the first snow.

Hankook Tyres  .Are based in South Korea and was founded in 1941 but then it was known as the Chosun tyre company. The company name that we know today as Hankook tyre was introduced in 1968.

The Hankook tyres company now sells its tyre products to many of the Worlds car manufacturers and is catching up with the leading tyre companies because of the quality of its tyre products and the quality of its tyres that are now known Worldwide. Hankook tyres are now the 7th largest tyre company in the World, and are now one of the fastest growing tyre companies.

One of the reasons has been the involvement in the field of motorsports, offering its tyre products for many motorsport racing events. Hankook  are proud to produce products high-quality and performance vehicles and not just for passenger cars but also for 4×4 vehicles and SUVs as well as for trucks. Some of the car makers that Hankook  supply are the massive car manufacturers such as Toyota, Ford and General Motors. This means that when a tyre company supply them for the original equipment cars, then they can look forward to a fair size chunk of the replacement tyre market in a couple of years when the first ones need replacing.

This is one of the reasons why Hankook  have set up distribution centres in many of the tyre market countries in the World including here in the UK. They have also built new manufacturing plants in China and the USA (Tennessee), they are shortly going to open a new $1 billion tyre manufacturing plant in Indonesia (West Java) to help cope with the huge estimated demand for its tyre products. Winter tyres grip-can help you get a grip in the cold and the Snow- Evening Telegraph

Winter tyres grip

Winter tyres grip can help you in the cold
Evening Telegraph On damp or wet roads, tyres grip differently — and the braking distance is substantially longer.

Winter tyres

It pleases me very much to see how the British public have responded to the efforts of the owners of tyre outlets and the many motoring publications, that have been

Winter tyres grip

advising the public about the advantages and safety features of fitting winter tyres to your car.

What started me off committing myself to this subject was the massive increase of traffic on our roads, combined with the worsening winters that we were getting. This in my eyes makes road safety, especially where brakes and other road safety factors are concerned. Cars are travelling and accelerating at much faster speeds and therefore requires better braking systems and tyre technology. The latter is probably my specialist subject and a subject that I am passionate about, therefor the advice that I give to drivers and my customers is in their best interest.

Winter tyres grip

The subject of whether or not to fit winters in November time or not, to me is a “no brainer”. Here in West Yorkshire winter will shortly arriving , in fact this morning the local council gritting trucks are out gritting the icy roads. Winter tyres have a special compound that has silicone added to the rubber compound.

Winter tyres grip

Of course, this ensures that the winters remain flexible in freezing weather conditions, and are still able to maintain there grip on icy or snowy roads. On the other hand a summer ones that do not have additives will begin to harden when the temperature drops below 7 degrees centigrade, when Winter tyres grip . The effect is similar to your wiper blades, we all know that in cold weather that your wiper blades become very hard and will not clean the windscreen, all other rubber items have the same affect, and do not work correctly in cold weather.

If the tyre does not flex because of the cold, then the tread will not be able to do the job of gripping, especially in cold weather or on a very dirty rainy day when you may be traveling at 70 mph on a motorway. Winters will flex and give you the full tread onto the road, together with a much better designed tread pattern made especially for wet and snowy winter conditions, there is no doubt that Winter tyres grip . You owe it to yourself and your family to be as safe as possible on our very busy roads in winter time, none of us know what the weather will throw at us on any given day,(not even the weather man)

Waste Tyres Piled-Business illegally stock piled 45000 scrap tyres – Daily Echo

Waste Tyres Piled

Waste Tyres Piled- 45000 tyres
Daily Echo
A HAMPSHIRE tyre business has been fined thousands of pounds for illegally stockpiling 45,000 of waste scrap tyres at an industrial estate.

Eric Roberts says…

What caused the scrap tyres problem?

“All this has stemmed from the fact that waste tyres do not have any value. So,in fact the opposite is the case. Having to pay anything from 50 pence to £1 for Waste Tyre Removal and to be disposed of.Consequently, at one time. When remoulds were very popular. naturally, we would actually sell our old tyres to the remoulding industry. So,also to scrap tyre dealers. Who would come round collecting the old tyres for money.

The most popular scrap tyres to sell were the Michelin tyres. Subsequently, in the tyre trade an old tyre is known as a “casing”. Of course, the Michelin casings were the best quality casings that you could get. The same applies today, Michelin are still probably one of the best quality tyres. Hence, that you can buy. Although more expensive than other  brands. Michelin tyres are probably still the best  on the market.

Things started to change. Thus, with the introduction of new cheap tyres mass produced from China.Including, other “far eastern” countries. These cheap imports were flooding the market. Consequently, could be bought for cheaper than a remould tyre. Of course, it did not take long before the remould companies went out of business. Some of the remould companies concentrated on the remould truck market. Continuing in business, but the car re-molders soon closed down due to the lack of sales.

This caused us all a big problem we have all seen the Waste Tyres Piled on road sides, because no body wanted the old scrap tyres, it became a huge problem and European Union soon started to introduce new laws about tyre

Waste Tyres Piled up Illegally

Waste Tyres Piled

Waste Tyres Piled are still a problem across the world including the UK

disposal. This was followed by new companies setting up to dispose of the Waste Tyres. The most significant new law  would not let scrap tyres be used in landfill sites (tips). So solutions had to be thought of quickly. Germany had already started using old scrap tyres to burn in cement kilns to turn the liquid cement into the powder that we use in building things, but here in Britain we were a bit slow, but we are now looking at similar ideas. Most are now shredded and used in all sorts of applications including mixing the shredded rubber with tarmac to be used on road building.

All this however did not stop illegal Waste Tyres dumping and we still have the problem today. we have all seen old ones piled up in the country side or on waste land, and guys like the one who rented a large building or just land to fill with scrap tyres and then when they are full they just walk away and leave the problem to the owner of the building. One old mill in the Bradford area of West Yorkshire was filled with over a million scrap tyres and then the culprits just walked away leaving the problem to the environment agency, which in the long run has to be paid by the tax payer”.

ELECTRIC CAR Battery Plug in Stations in Chester UK

In the last few days I visited the beautiful city of Chester in Cheshire, North West England. Chester is very close to the Welsh border and is steeped in history. Of course, the city was once a Roman settlement. So, still boasts a near complete Roman wall. Encircling the city centre. Including, its many shops and hotels. Attracting millions of visitors a year.

My wife and I were in Chester to see our daughter receive her Honours degree. Naturally, from the University of Chester. The ceremony was held at the cities cathedral. Attended by many dignitaries and important university personnel. Subsequently, the service took some two hours. But was well worth it see our daughter Brooke receive her degree in French studies. Indeed, we were very proud parents indeed Celebrating with a nice meal and a few drinks. Before heading back to the hotel for a few more night caps.

The Hotel was the Mill Hotel and Spa complex Hotel just off the centre of Chester and very nice it was too. On arriving I could not help noticing that there was a few very large life size replicas of rhinos, painted in very bright psychedelically painted situated around the hotel car park. Looking more closely I noticed that they all had a sign attached to them. To my amazement the rhinos were in fact “electric car charging points”.

ELECTRIC CAR Battery- charging is free to residents of the hotel.

These were some of the first that I had ever seen in the North of England. The Hotel had them installed care of a company called”Zerocarbonworld.org and are fitted free of charge through government grants and special funding. I have always been interested in the electric car and other inventions that are at the moment flooding the car market place, so I could not wait to turn this find into a blog.

When we checked out I asked the guy at the reception how much they charged to top the battery up on an electric car and to my surprise he said that there was no charge for the service indeed the service was free. But as a business man I know that the electricity used would have been a business cost and used to calculate the cost of a room, so therefor we would have been paying for the cost of charging up an electric car battery in the price of a room. The reception guy then told me that they had only ever had two electric cars to have their batteries charged.

In the end we all had a great three days and I found an interesting subject to blog about.
